Got a question about this mule pulled furrow pull that I was given. So, what was this moldboard furrow plow used for?? In my area there is a lot of flood irrigation and row crops. Maybe used for hilling corn and suds and weeding between row crops or harvesting suds???

What do you believe this type of moldboard was used for in late 1800 and early 1900's farming methods.

Potato lister. I think the one I grew up with might still be in a fence row at the farm. A tractor will pull one too.

That would take TWO pretty good mules to pull that thing. You get that thing a foot in the ground, you got an anchor.. eek

Nice ornament though especially being free. smile

Bull Plow, Middle Buster, Lister Plow are all names for a moldboard that makes a furrow fliping soil to each side.

With you saying flood irrigation it fits as that could be used to lay out furrows to carry water. In some parts of the country extra large versions were used with teams of oxen, hence the name bull plow, to drain swampy areas.
