In Mo they say hunting/trapping feral pigs only breaks up the sounders and makes them scatter to spread the problem. Tell that to the guy that had 50 acres of crops destroyed overnight!

Animal rights nuts were putting in for the drawings to prevent trappers from being able to trap beaver and otter.
Keith Keith, you are always spot on. I personally think the ODNR has a agenda. Everything else is handled on line. I don't have frogs to gig anymore and put food on my table. When you come up to get on Bowfin I'll show you. Now, we can't hunt hogs?
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Jeff, Duckhunter 14 on here is part of the eradication effort. We talked back in March. He told me that they were limiting hunting on public land because hunting disperses the wild boar and feral pigs to new areas, making control hard. They have trapped and shot from the air, thousands of swine.
Duckhunter 14 is Ben Crawford, who works for USDA Wildlife Services in Ohio dealing with feral pigs in Ohio. His email address is benjamin.crawford@usda.gov and his number is 220-216-6302.
Keith Keith i thank you but dang, that's nuts to me! I'm gonna need a explanation from this ole boy! It makes no sense.

Keith Keith i thank you but dang, that's nuts to me! I'm gonna need a explanation from this ole boy! It makes no sense. Almost all the wild hogs that are in Ohio are intentionally released hogs. The thinking is that if you're not allowed to hunt them, there's no incentive for people to bring them in, release them and charge people to hunt them on guided hunts. there were a few people that were bringing them in, turning them loose near ag ground, and then approaching the landowners after the hogs found the crops and offer to kill the hogs for a good fee.

The main thing with the beaver and otter lotteries is that many of the locations that are given out are for nuisance beaver. They've have too many guys as it is now that dont show up to trap the spots with the in-person drawings. It was really bad in the original days of the online drawing. It didnt make sense someone that lives in Toledo to put in for say crown city wildlife area. It barely makes sense for me to go down to that wildlife area and I live in the same county! If someone makes the effort to come to the drawing they are much more likely to trap what they get. During the covid years of lottery drawing they did limit it to where you could only put in for areas in the same DOW district.
Sniper, forgive me cause after all these years you seem to me to be a advocate for the ODNR. Explain to me why the beaver and Otter should not be handled like everything else? Your point is taken and understood. It's understood to the point that we shouldn't have to drive to Akron. Effort means nothing to me because humans are involved. I am in a poorly managed area and have no frogs to eat. Riddle me that!

A lot of weird goings on. A friend of mine in the mansfield area has a ton of bobcat pics on his trail cams yet there is no plan anywhere we've been told, to have any kind of season on them. Thank the wildlife council for that, Karen Stewart per say. Hopefully when the next Gov is elected he will rid us of that.

A friend of mine in Washington County, near Vincent and Veto, Ohio gets large numbers of trail camera pictures of bobcats and has lost thousands of dollars in poultry to them. I've seen live bobcat twice near me and once near Blanchester. Over the last 6 years, I've seen a lot of dead bobcats on the roads in South East, Ohio. Keith

There are lots of bobcats through most of Ohio. The Noble county game warden picked up over 30 roadkills in his county, in one year, a few years back. I had a local warden ask if they could ride my line with me one day. We saw 3 bobcats that morning run across the road in front of us.

Doesn't take too many guys trapping an area to ruin it for years. I drawn one location 3 times and it hasn't had beaver since the first time I trapped it. some area managers would live to have the beaver wiped out completely because the areas are managed for ducks and they are constantly plugging the control devices . Other areas are so remote you can't reach all the colonies unless you really are desperate to catch beaver. I've almost broken out climbing gear to get to spots around here. I wish Wayne national would allow more beaver trapping but unless there's serious issues they won't offer permits.
