Rain and wind knocked down my second planting of corn and some of my first planting. Stand it up or leave it down to straighten by itself? I have heard both ways, none of the stalks are broken, and no roots exposed. First one is about chest high and second planting about waist high. Only about 150 plants.

If they aren’t broken, I’d leave them but I could be wrong. lol

I leave them. They usually straighten out pretty well.

Leave. Have saw some really flattened corn come back up. Maybe "goose necked" if it is really bad (stalks have good bend to them).

If current planting makes it another week, will be first time in 5 years it has not been flattened by high wind. It doesn't come back all the way like nothing ever happened, but does stand up enough to pick.

I find if the corn has tasseled, even if it comes back the ears don’t form as they should. I am currently in San Diego for work. My corn was about 3-4 days from being ready to pick, the second planting was just starting to tassel. Got an inch and a half of rain yesterday. Expecting more today and high winds according to wife. Hope it makes it through without going down

Thanks everyone, it looks like it is starting to lift up. Mine hasn't tassled or formed ears yet.

At those stages and not broken it will really try to straighten up as it is the sun that the corn will try to reach. If the tassles are not in the whorl yet it will not impact pollination much if it gets nearly straight. When it stays down then pollination can be very uneven due to the wind not being able to spread the pollin in as many directions. Just leave it and watch you will be amazed at what those plants can do.
