i havent watched any of the late night comedy shows since they got rid of Conan.

Late night is one long clown show hosted by different clowns throughout the night. SOSDD

He took over the late show from Letterman, and the ratings have been dropping ever since. He may be #1 in his time slot, but CBS/Paramount said it was strictly a financial decision. (He has been trashing both since they settled their lawsuit with Trump) They have over 200 people working on that show. Gutfeld, who has over one million more viewers a night, has less than 20. His primary guests haven’t been comedians or Hollywood types. Usually they are some Trump bashing politicos, like Shiff and others.

Top rating in 20% of the market is not that great now the whole MSM is being replaced by other media outlets.

I’m not saying he can’t be funny, or never was. Some of his skits on the Colbert Report weren’t bad, just once he was on “Lame Night” everything he did was a part of political propaganda. Hard to believe when a program alienates 50%+ of their potential viewers, then couple that with downward trending MSM viewership overall that a program struggles to keep afloat. NOT…. Just my observations, not on here to throw stones. I’d be willing to bet though, that if a truly funny and intelligent man were to try his hand at it, and poke fun of each side from time to time and not dwell on politics, that may be very well recieved…. Funny host + funny and good natured guests = a win. Colbert was always spewing hatred towards half of American people, that’s not a good recipe for success.

Nielson ratings and Washington Examiner. 2025 2nd quarter ratings, Stephen Colbert averaged 1.9 million viewers. Jimmy Kimmel 1.5 viewers. Jimmy Fallon 1 million viewers. Greg Gutfeld cable show with only a fraction of Colbert’s budget averaged 3 million viewers. Johnny Carson averaged 9-11 million viewers and Jay Leno 5 million. Yes, I would say his ratings are in the toilet along with Kimmel and Fallon. Nice try with your TDS Trump comment.

Well said. I miss Johnny Carson and Ed McMan. Funny as heck, clean and classy. Carson reruns would do better then any of the ones on today. I would like to see Dave Chappel take a slot. He'd have to clean it up for TV but he pokes fun at everyone, no agenda, just comedy. I doubt we'll ever have any more Johnny's, Carol's, Conway's, Korman's, At least we have the reruns...

They got rude, crude, nasty and butthurt all at the same time it’s run its course they killed comedy with their woke crap now they die by it. SNL back when they were funny did a skit on woke before it was invented. Every and anything the people at a party said was related to a tragedy in one way or another.
