This is all I have. I’d like to invest in silver bars. Even the little ones they call Kit Kat bars. Would be nice to pass along to my niece

Little over a year ago I had a friend ask about buying silver. Told him to wait because it was trading near the high end of its range at 26$.... Sure feel bad about that... But feel very good about my previous purchases...

Neighbor needed some cash yesterday. Had 3 silver dollars. I gave him 30 each. No idea of collector value but figure there is that much silver in one.

That's why I never give financial advice. Sometimes it can burn ya.....they say the best two times to buy silver is now or ten years ago. I passed when it was 22. Oh well. Win some, lose some. Lol.

Nothing on TV but commercials pimping Gold/Silver, I thought it was "Buy Low, SELL High", oh wait, that's what they're doing.

Pretty sure silver is measured in 31.1 gram to the Troy ounce...

If silver dips under 30, I'll buy a little.

The thing with silver is knowing when it peaks and levels off the bad thing the next high is something years away after it drops again but it’s been rising steadily the last few years and staying at higher levels.

Gonna cash out and grub stake a coon line,
no competition grin

Never sold silver.
Scrapped though.
I don't fret on hitting the peak.
Cause it not happening all the time.

Danny there is approximately.77 ounces of silver in a silver dollar. As of this moment silver is 38.11. 38.11x.77=29.34 melt value. A guy can't buy them for that. In this market I'd pay 30 all day long for them.

Silver broke 39 USD on the Asian markets Sunday night/Monday morning

This thread feels oddly familiar to the one a few years ago when silver was going nuts.. Hopefully we see it continue to roll and break out.. Silver miner stocks are still stuck way behind where spot is.. Probably, and I mean probably that is where some real money will be made or lost in my opinion lol.. FWIW the miners are a horrible investment in general, but if you happen to hit it right they can produce killer gains quickly..Just remember what mark twain said about gold mines-- They are a hole in the ground with a liar standing in front of it, loosely paraphrased.. Applies to silver as well I believe.

Danny, Steven is spot on on the silver dollar assessment as far as weight.. However what year are yours? if they happen to be Morgans they could be worth far more than silver value..FWIW.. I collect Morgans somewhat and enjoy the history associated with them. Can be worth spot price to several hundred dollars depending on what they are.

Also all, some of the american silver eagle one ounce rounds and canadian maple leafs of certain years are quite desirable and worth considerably more than spot.. Again FWIW.. If you've got some laying around check your dates and mint codes and google is your friend..

Last time I believe it was sticking around $22 now it’s in the upper $30s and hanging there so just making a note of that if anyone needs to move any.

There is 24.5 grams of silver in a silver dollar. Ask google what today’s price for a gram of silver. Take that amount and multiply it by 24.5 and you will have the scrap value of the silver for that day. But remember coins have historic value also. A buyer will probably offer you 10 percent less of the scrap value. I bought these yesterday for $20 as scrap.

Larry they are morgans. 1921 no proof. 1891 no proof. 1901 with an O proof.

I have no idea about the numismatic value of coins. It's a rabbit hole I don't want to go down.

Silver was up around 28 dollars an ounce after the COVID madness began It had been stuck in the teens very low 20s for quite some time before that.

Larry, a Guy has to be a little bit of a lot for punishment to invest in mining stocks. How you been?

Danny. I think you are referring to the mint mark. As in no mint or having a O mint. The O mint mark is from
New Orleans. WI outdoors, I pay $2 over spot when I buy rounds from a dealer. A dollar less then spot for them to buy it back. The price of silver needs to be over $3 then what I paid for me to make money. Maybe it’s should buy from one then sell to another. There’s three coin shops within 15 miles of my house.
