A waterbed? How old school! Probably has lava lamps on the nightstand too.

Those toppers can get hot. The one we tried was very uncomfortable.

Boone, let me tell you about my new best friend. The amazon basics memory foam mattress.
We just finished building our new house and finally had room for a king size bed. Money was tight at the end so instead of spending 1500 bucks on a "good" mattress we ordered the Amazon Basics 12" thick cooling memory foam mattress.
We paid $347 for it. UPS delivered it in a box that was about 3 foot long by 16 inches wide. You open it up, pop the vacuum seal, and let it expand for 24 hours.
I'm here to tell you that's the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. I sleep like a baby on that thing. I tell everybody I know about how much I love that mattress.
It's a little more firm than what I thought I wanted, but now that I've used it I prefer that. After you lay there for a second it conforms to your body and I fall right asleep.
I can buy 5 or 6 of these mattresses for the price of one "good" mattress. Go on there and read the reviews. There are 5 year reviews from happy customers. I give mine a 10 out of 10. What kind of longevity does it have? I made the mistake of buying the cheapest mattress in the store one time and my back was hurting within about six months.

Got a new one , two years ago! They saw my wife and I coming a mile away!! Spent 2 grand and all I got was a back ache and a hole in my wallet!! They should have thrown in a hat and a boil of soup! So, I can say I got something! What I would do now, I would buy two twin mattress, one for what my wife wants and one for me! They all feel good when you are at the store!! Ain’t that the truth! They all offer “100 day trials” or whatever, but I’m sure it’s not “free” and probably takes an act of Congress to actually return.

My wife and I spent a lot of money on a Stearnes and Foster mattress. Not sure if that is how it is spelled. She was OK with it, and I hated it.
We ended up buying a foam filled firm mattress on the internet, then put a 3" topper on it and all of it cost was way way less than that mattress. We both sleep pretty good now.

I had a waterbed growing up and loved it. Haven't slept in one in twenty years now, you never see them any more. I had one as a kid also. Woke up wet a few times after something scared the cat and she went tearing off the bed. Then the heater went on the fritz And You would freeze or burn up. Simple fix would be just het a new heater . but I was under 10 and my single mom was not mechanical or know how to fix even simple things.
