When I first saw stand on zero turns a d looked at the price I thought why not get a sit on.. But as many things do it ratted around I my subconscious a while and I started thinking maybe thay have some advantages. Then I put a little effort in and looked at them closer.

Advantages I see are not as hard on your back with your legs absorbing a lot of the shock, easier to get on and off quickly, handy when needing to move things like kids toys and open gates. Better visibility To see said obstacles, shorter so can moew in tighter places, takes up less room on a trailer and in the grage.

So I came to the conclusion they are a great tool especially for smaller yards with a lot of on and off and moving things out of the way. Just one more thing I made an initial judgment on only to give it some thought and decide I was wrong. Same goes for the stand ons thar were only 36" cuts. I thought what's the point. Then I saw a guy with custom tail gate that folded down I to a ramp and he could drive the mow right into the bed of his truck and not need a trailer. Truck had racks for all the rest of his tools as well. A very slick set up.

Seems to be happening more as I get older on about every topic from tools to people. Guess it is maybe experience bringing more open mindedness?

I have a Toro Grandstand that I like a lot. it has a dump bed on it and a large, 60 inch mowing deck.

only downside is it takes both hands to operate. no beverages to sip while working.

I can understand that. My knees are good(for now) but my back!! I didn't realize it when I was younger just how much setting down running equipment is hard on my lower back. It really beats me up and I feel it more and more. Years ago I remember hearing operators talking about the equipment beating them up when I Was Ironworking and thing what weaklings. Today I know what they are talking about. Even after several hours on the mower I feel it when I stop. And the 16 hr days at work in heavy equipment is geting rough. The big stuff 938 cats have about 4' tires and are a little smoother than the equipment with smaller tires. But none has suspension and the seats only help so much.

As you get older I’d rather be sitting but you should buy what your sons will mow with

All the commercial lawn care outfits in the KC metro use them.
