How far from the back of the cage do ya'll generally have the back edge of the pan? How about length of the pan from pivot point to back edge? Putting together a few more, and curious if there is a consensus on these measurements. Cages will be generally 12x20x36 and mostly for fox and bobcat in sensitive areas. Thanks.

pan should be 6 inches deep, 8 inches from back of cage to back edge of pan.

ever try the long treadle pan type traps like the the one Norm Blackwell made that WCS now sells?

Most commercial cages have the pan too far inside the trap for my liking. The animal has to comment to the very end of the trap to be caught. I prefer a roughly center placed trap pan on live traps.

Most cages are made for short neck/legged critters like coons, skunks, possums ect. Consider fox and bobcats to be longer leg longer neck critters so yes the peddle needs to be further back then if that’s what the traps intended for but In a pinch a short board placed closer to the door will extend the peddle to increase your chances.
