Why..dosent look good

I would try it even though I am not that partial to a lot of cilantro.

I would give it go...looks good.

I have not tried the whole salad. Just prickly pear leaves. Not real tasty to me. The red fruit is sweet and delicious. Gramma made jelly with it.

My wife had this recently when we were down at the border.

Wife and son ate some few weeks ago. Remember them both staring at their fingers getting the small pricks out of the them.......I passed. Think they also torched them to make the skin and outside softer to scrape

Heck, I'd give it a go, looks like Mexican poverty food....As Crocodile Dundee would say, may taste like S...., but you can live on it.....

That's where it lost me to try it. I hate cilantro.

There has got to be spines left that people miss removing, I'll pass. A spine in your tongue, throat, lip isn't my idea of dining pleasure. Plus, WHY, there are so much other good foods to eat. Leave it for the javelinas.

You can grow Eastern prickly pear cactus up into zone 4. I'm occasionally tempted to grow it, but in general don't like plants with thorns and needles. I would try eating it. From talking to several people, the small hair like spines are much worse than the big ones to be stuck by.

Nopalito's, cut in strips and pickled, quite good.

Ate prickly pear many times. Sister in law makes jelly out of the fruits (delicious)

Never ate it pickled. That might be ok.

I never found enough flesh in them to know what they tasted like. Nothing but a lot of hard seeds.

When I go to Mexican joint for breakfast and sit down, I always order the same thing. Two pork chops, two eggs over easy, and nopalitas with corn tortillas. Best breakfast ever.

If I'm in a rush, then it is chorizo, potato, and nopalita tacos. I love salt, and nopalitas are naturally salty.

Seeds are in the fruit not the leaves

Cactus tasted like green beans to me when I tried it. Not a big fan of Mexcan food.
