Ran across a place today that red dye diesel was more than #2….don’t understand that. Makes no sense. Who would buy red dye if it costs more?

You’re right that makes no sense. Who in their right mind would pay more for off road diesel?

I don’t know. Based on the time of year, I suspect it was #2 red.

I suspect they bought their off road when prices are higher and it did not sell as fast as the rode stuff. The price came down When they bought more rode stuff and now can sell it cheaper. Just a guess.

very possible the day they put it in the tank, on road was higher

it also may have to do more with their demand or them not wanting to sell it.

you know the one that makes and doesn't make sense

#2 home heating oil , you can run on #2 offroad and it is a better product cleaner less waxy solids ran it in my furnace for 10 years
but they won't deliver #2 offroad to your home , so I got it at the pump

because they sell limited #2 home heating oil and it is a pain to work with when cold , it a lesser product costs more.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Pretty common in these woods. Station buys a way smaller quantity of Off-Road and pays premium. They don’t sell at a loss and expect similar margins.

I burn plenty of taxed ( green fuel ) especially if red fuel is the same or higher.
