Crazy, our deer lose their antlers before Christmas, with a bullet to their face, pop there they go. Even without popping them off with a shot cherry top bucks are seen before January.

They lose them in December mostly here, you'll see some still packing in January, but only once can I ever recall seeing any with horns in March. I saw a herd of Muley bucks one time in March, two had hard horns they were still packing, the others were already growing velvet horns. Both were odd, don't usually start seeing new horns until end of April at the earliest, more often mid-May.

Elk on the other hand tend to lose theirs in March and be growing new ones by mid April.
