I have always been more of a pre-64 model 70 guy and own very few levers.

I have nothing clever to put here.

my love is 99s and ruger number ones, but I can't resist nice clean original older bolt guns either I've picked up two H7R ultra rifles recently the Sako L61R action at the same time missed out on a clean 70 that I wish I had brought

I have one in .22/250 that's killed a lot of coyotes. Still a tack driver.

Got my model 99F .300 when I was in HS in 1964-65. I am left handed. I like the neutral safety on the top. Secpnd gun I was able to buy with my own money while in HS.

Always thought they were dog ugly until I actually handled one. But I'm a Winchester/JMB fanboy and anything not designed by JMB has to prove it's reason for existing to me. The 99 is on my bucket list if I can ever find one in decent shape. They never were all that common down here.

Nice! The 308, 300S, 250 and the common calibres are around. The bigger thumpers are harder to find.
If you’ve read any books about The Mad Trapper of Rat River, you probably want a 99 in your collection….lol

A model 99 in 300 sav that inherited and brings back many memories of both hunting with it and hunting with dad that used it, no idea as to exactly how old but remember Dad using it when I was 10 or 12 so at least 60 years and probably closer to 70

His was 22 Hi-Power or 25-35 as I recall but I haven't read that book in years.

I just inherited a 300 Savage, stripped it down and gave it a good cleaning. It’s a neat rifle with innovative features like the rotary magazine. I can’t wait to shoot it. I looked up the serial number and it was manufactured in 1948.

I have a few that once we played with the loads there very accurate group wise. But I do have two that try my patients they will do fine on deer but after 3 shots they jump around a bit.The 284 win I have is a tack driver surprisingly the lower we went with the charge the better it got.

I only have 9 currently 30/30, 358, 375, 308, 25/35, 250/3000, 300 savage, 303 savage and 22 HP the 308 and 250/3000 belonged to my dad and Ma respectively and the 303 was my ma’s dads the others I found here and there I am always on the lookout for a good 99

I heard that before the discontinued them they made one each in 3006 and 270 and sold one at auction and have the other on display at there headquarters

I would really like to see them bring them back in some of the newer short mag calibers and with the renewed interest in lever guns well who knows, I understand why the were discontinued but with the new MFG techniques and automatic processes well who knows

Just an add on but my Ma had one gun the 250/3000 she used it for everything she even shot a grizzly with it sometime in the late 50s that tanned hide sat on the back of the sofa my whole childhood and would still be here except a fire took out the home place in 1991, but I still remember hunting that skin as a kid, it might not have been the biggest grizz ever shot but my Ma did it herself

My dad would recount the story of her shooting that bear to anyone who would sit still long enough to listen, I think he was prouder of that bear then she was

My go-to big game rifle is my 1955 Savage Model 99 lever action in .308 Was my grandpa's deer and elk rifle. Great rifle and cartridge. I also have a Savage Model 110 in 7mm rem mag but I definitely use the 99 more.
