Trapping mice at work got me accolades. We had a real problem in the winter. I caught some fat ones

Bucket of water half full spread peanut butter inches down on the inside of the bucket. Now you got a trap that keeps catching. Put a strip of wood to the top of the bucket so they have a ladder

Update ...caught one in each campah. (2)

The peanut came off ...when trap fired .

Also had 2 peanuts on 2 other traps eaten...without the trap firing...

Not happy about that.

Tried hot gluing peanuts on bait holder a few years ago with the same results as you. Glueing a tuft of cotton or polyfil to baitholder and smearing with peanut butter seems to work better as they seem to get their teeth caught and trigger the trap. They can be wiley little critters.

Switch the peanuts out for pistachios in the shell Ness, Pick out the ones that are barely cracked open. Much tougher than peanuts.
