Didn’t run into him. Be interesting to hear what he had to say. Thought it was an excellent event and despite the market seemed well attended. Iowa did a great job.

For several months I have been hearing these rumors that Groenewold was going to shut the doors. And if that was true it might just have a huge effect on the fur market.
I'm not going to say where these rumors were coming from so, I caught up with Gary. According to Gary Guy was going to spend more time on the business end. He is still going to run his WI pick up spots. Gary didn't comment on any other stops.
But Gary said they were going to stay in business and continue to buy fur. He didn't say whether they were going to run all the stops that they were running last fur season. But they are going to stay in the skin game.
Gary said that I was their best sounding board on the internet, LOL And he gave me permission to spread the word.
We didn't talk about fur prices.

Gary took part in the fur fashion show on Friday night and really did a great job, even though he sure wasn't the prettiest model there. grin

GFW will do a fur market report on Saturday September 6th at the WTA. When I talked with Guy a few weeks ago he had moved to Madison, WI and is now a minority owner of the firm. Good to see they are able to transfer ownership and thus keep a major fur buying and marketing firm doing business.

Sure hope Gary continues the Deep South route. If not, I will be out of the fur business other than I might ship any bcats to FH. Everything else will go in the bone pile.

We've been throwing some "teasers" of past year demos up on the Fur Takers of America YouTube page. They are 7-10 minute snippets from a single demo from different trappers from different years. The FTA is working on a way for the demo videos to be available to view in full... just trying to do it in a modern, easy to watch way that doesn't cost us or trappers an arm and a leg. But if you search us on YT or find some links on our socials you'll see what we've got going on.

Perhaps the best Convention I ever attended. Facilities were absolutely amazing ! All dealers were in one air conditioned building. Tailgating in a single corridor making it easy to see everyone. Live Music , Banquet, and Auction in the same building on 3 consecutive nights ! Two meals provided at no charge for all attendees. Free bottled water for everyone to help defeat the heat. Lunch wagons had fantastic food !

Very well attended and very well run !

Humidity reminded me why I left Iowa and moved to the North woods though.
