Maybe a silly question, but does anyone sell brand new dyed and waxed traps? Like an MB-550s?

Did raccoon last year and want to get into coyote this year. Looking at this starter kit but would also need to buy wax and then do the work to get them ready.

I have never done it before so hence the question. If not, I guess I"ll learn.

Probably best to learn yourself IMO. It's not hard to do, and you'll need to redo them next year anyway.

You do t need to dye and wax traps to catch coyotes. Honestly waxed traps can cause more problems then other forms of trap treatments out there for wax absorbs odors very easily. Formula 1, full metal jacket, paint, zeps hogh traffic floor polish are few options out there to treat traps with. Get involved with your states trappers association and find some trapper training courses and rub elbows with some trappers at some events and pick there brains most are willing to share everything they know these days.

I would not worry about dye or wax with new traps. Pressure wash them clean of oil and go trapping. Dye and wax serve as a protectant against rust. They need to be rusty for the tannic acid in log wood to to turn them black. If you want to avoid any rust as long as you can, after you wash them and they dry, then wax them. Buy the wax now. Leave it in your wax pot, unwrapped, outside, till fall then wax.
