I'm not familiar with this incident, but to answer your question with a question: what if that pilot found out what was about to happened and took off again...suicidal mindset? With all the passengers still on board? LE's element of surprise can save lives.... If it had been a passenger warrant....they'd likely waited, but one of the pilots still seated in the cockpit? Child sexual abuse charges? Nah...pounce on him asap!

I think the answer you are going to get is , it allows them to control the narrative.
they know he is 100% sitting second seat when the plane pulls up to the gate
so they know who , where down to the seat and what he looks like and if they go on first they are dealing with just the cockpit.
if they wait they have to pick him out of a crowd or he gets tipped off that they are there for him , they want him to have no time to react.
while not the most convenient for the 200+ passengers it is the most convenient with the officers with the least possibility of a mistake in ID.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Koresh was a jogger? About every day and was clearly know about. Very simple and could have picked him up without incident. But You see what happened. Give men toys and they will find a way to play with them. A big part of why I don't thing every small town needs a swat team and tricked out with donated military equipment.

Im not real informed on the Branch Davidian incident. I remember when and how it happened. Wasn't some illegal weapons/transactions involved?
Would arresting Koresh on the street have solved the problem of other Davidians and those illegal weapons back at the compound? Didn't Koresh have some loyal armed followers guarding the place?

Certainly, Swamp, it was much better to burn it all down. Saved alot of court time, paperwork, etc. The airplane thing was all show. Once the plane was at the terminal there was no where to go. 2 officers could have arrested him when he walked off the plane.

Every scenario is different. Not sure if you guys remember the Vince Lee incident up here? It’s a bit different, but if that officer would’ve went in hot and just shot the guy on the bus, look what he would’ve prevented…..and the RCMP would’ve hung the officer. Protocol. Only the dead victim was left on the bus so they hung tight while Vince carried on with his adventure. My trapping bud sees him on the streets of Winnipeg walking free, sometimes obviously off his meds. He had his name legally changed after his release. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Tim_McLean

Once the plane was at the terminal there was no where to go. 2 officers could have arrested him when he walked off the plane. That was my thought. Wait until passengers were off the plane as normal, then move in and do what you got to do to nab him them. If the story is true, having 10 armed guys storm the plane and pull the guy out of the cockpit with passengers still on the plane seems over the top stupid to me. The guy wasn't John Dillenger armed with a machine gun. Narrative actually works against LEO's. Makes them look like a bunch of goons vs. the good guys. I once witnessed a police / parent confrontation in which the three cops involved came in yelling and throwing weight around, when nothing of the sort was called for. They all came off looking like Barney Fife with a bullet. In only a few moments time they managed to alienate a group of parents who prior to that would have been a law officer's best friend for life.

Stayed in the driver's seat and and fired the engines back off? With you, as a passenger, still on the plane? Some of yall cant see very far past the end of your nose.

As I see it, he got on the plane suspecting nothing, completed the flight suspecting nothing, they pulled up to the gate suspecting nothing and by time jet way is moved over, plane is going nowhere, plus he had a pilot next to him. In normal course of things, LEO could have been hanging out in gate area, hiding out in the crowd, until it was time to move in.
Only thing I can think of to justify boarding plane in force as they did was if he was on to them and had already started acting up. They do that often when a passenger goes off the rails and needs restraint PDQ, but if that was the case, story leaves that part out.

After nearly 30 year career in LE....I can tell you....NOT MANY!

Lotta monday morning quarterbacks on here. The suspect was arrested and nobody got hurt. I dont care if a passenger was 'offended' by the sight of armed law enforcement officers arresting someone. Likely pedophile is off the street. End of story. Boom! Spot on^^^^ It was a good day!!!
