And wow it's no longer full of the cow I got a few months ago. 2 shelfs are full of chickens we just butchered and have not been delivered to coustmers yet and most of the rest of the shelfs are not even half full.

I was joking about being hopeful the cow would get us by tell deer season but it may be turning out to be closer to fact than a joke.

The boys only shot 7 deer last season Going to have to not let so many walk this year.

But that
is 7 deer, 1 cow, lots of chickens we raised, some fish, squirrel, rabbit, tame and wild. Looking at it seems like a lot and impossible to go through yet here I am..

Low carb for the wife and I and 2 teen boys seem to really run through the meat.

That’s a big old freezer or some small deer and a cow.

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

I think the new one is 21 or 25 cubic feet Two of the up rights are about that size the 3rd is my oldest and smallest and bought when money was tight I think it's 13 or 15 feet. and there is the small one on the fridge.

the new one was for the cow. The deer were very low at that point. lots more goes in the freezer wife has a nice garden also.

Makes sense. We have a few also. Always a good idea to have freezer space for the garden.

I’m sure you already do it.

But, do you have a fridge for aging them before you process your own? Or do you just process and put in the freezer?

I like to leave mine for a day or two in the fridge before processing.

Can’t fathom taking a deer to a processor. Not with what those rascals are charging.

Canning helps with freezer space with both vegetables and meat. But boy can it take up a lot of time And we have not done any at all this year yet.. I keep thinking I need a freeze dryer, have seen some comming up used lately. But it's a lot of cash for new and I always worry about buying anything electrical uses/unknown.

Typically deer go on ice in a cooler Untill I get time to work them up Or run out of coolers. May be up to a week or two. I was going to make half of the head I got for my daughter mouse head a walk in cooler with a cool bot.

Ya obviously I had not thought that through but changed my mind quickly when it was in operation.

Oh yeah, canning helps too. But the freezer is easy and quick.

I just use a spare fridge and keep them in there, easier than changing ice and stuff.

We only keep 4 or so deer a year though. Donate the rest.
