There are quite a few other states that require a legal ID however, which does show whether you are a citizen or not, thus while they don't explicitly require proof of citizenship, they de facto require it, because they require something else you have to have proof of citizenship to get, or it is clearly stated on there that you are NOT a citizen (such as the case of a Drivers License for a resident alien). There are a number of states however who require nothing except you telling them you are legal to vote.

That’s crazy! I can’t even vote in our municipal elections without ID. You’d think with something so important, proof & ID would be strictly enforced, the areas that can’t ensure legitimacy of votes not counted. It should be a hard stamped system so voting the process is the same no matter which state you go to.

Solved a problem we didn't have.
Wonder how many older folks that don't drive will now not be able to vote??

Will only happen in republican controlled states. But it should be that way in every state.

This isn't an issue where there must be a problem for every solution.

People can get a non-driver ID card in Iowa. The requirements are that you will need proof of your identity, lawful U.S. status, SSN, and Iowa residency, as well as payment for the fee.

In NC an ID was not required until the last election. The pole worker that cleared me looked very carefully at my Real ID license, even holding it up to a bright light. Good job.

That's the way it's supposed to be, but some states refuse to enforce it.
