Very possible I had a hand in building the equipment that produced the materials for that bin

Every time i go hunting in Illinois i like seeing the grain moving equipment there. Theres an old 6500 bushel and 4 3500 bushel bins at home ive shoveled out many times growing up grinding cow feed. Only the 6500 has a sweep.

I helped build 4, 100,000 bushel bins back in the late 70's. Probably one of the hottest jobs I have ever done. Mid summer was not pleasant.

The steel Ben's are impressive as are the cement ones as well , over my lifetime I've seen at least 2 maybe 3 wood and tin grain Ben's burn to the ground .

At least one man had fallen to his death from one also .

You're friend along the snare line .

Hope they have another great year this year

Impressive to see that much corn/rice/soybeans in one spot

Last bin job as in on was 1 million 400-thousand-bushel ln Billings Montana. Snow storm chased us all the way back to south east Iowa.

Best estimates I hear are %3-$4 per bushel with a concrete base. That is a bin, now when you add in augers, legs, dryers and maybe scales etc. they are not cheap, which is one reason why in the big corn belt area you will find huge piles on the ground covered with canvas, tarp etc. Travelling through central ILL 15 years ago there was a pile that looked to be 1/2 mile long, and it was wide and tall too.

Used to be programs to help put up storage In the 70's. Been away from it so long no idea how it works now. Flat storage has a lot of waste and very weather dependent on that as well. Then add double handling for icing on the cake.
