This is one of dozens of reports on the story. What 99% of them leave out is the why of it. The why of it is more people stole the food than payed for it. The reason the shelves are empty is the operator has no money to restock.

Going forward, only way these deals are going to work is similar to online shopping and parking lot pickup. Go in to order what you want, then pay for it, and then.......and only then......will a clerk go around to pull from the warehouse and bring up front to you. In these markets, does not........cannot.......work like a normal grocery store.

If they only do it in "those" markets, the cries if racism will be deafening. Best for the company to just leave.

It's not a real company. As I understand it, was originally a non-profit (they named it right) now city run. City wants to serve, high security facility may be only way to do it.......like every other place in that area.

And I agree with Danny. There are some danger zones in this country where you just don't go.........and that one may be at the top of the list. Army could use it for urban warfare training and nobody would even notice they were there.

I have never hauled in that area unarmed. Even when it was illegal.

I had thie discussion with the most racists man I have ever been around during the Ferguson riots. He was all for it. I pointed out how as a business owner already hit by a lot of theft and declining property value I would take the insurance money and close up shop. And this will make the poor black single momma have to take the buss 22 blocks to the next grocery store instead of being able to walk 6 blocks. That it hurts the community to burn down your neighborhood.

The guy just could not grasp it. Whites alway keeping the blacks down and all. Oddly the guys wife is a pharmacist, he makes the same pay I do, has 2 great daughters with graduated with honors from collage. So his family is doing very well. Yet I'm a racists becuse I'm white and somehow keeping them down.

Regardless of race some people are just to locked in to their beliefs to be able to reasion or use logic.

Most of this got started after the George Floyd deal......remember what started that was George passed a fake $20 off at the cup foods for cigs or some such, and they called the cops. All that over $20. So word went out........let it go. In CA they went so far as to announce that shoplifting under $1,000 wouldn't be prosecuted.....so.........why not steal stuff. People routinely filmed walking out with all they could carry and not paying for any of it. Has become very common all over. More subtle about it.......like pretending to ring stuff up at self checkout, then walking out.......but still doing it just the same. New mindset is they are entitled to steal stuff........just because.

So only choices seem to be pull the plug and go dark............or limit access to stuff to steal. Like making people pay for gas before they can pump it to eliminate the drive offs.

We reap what we sow.
