Several attempts in the last few days with test charges on the wife’s card and phishing PayPal emails coming in check your account FIRST do not respond to the email or the phone numbers in those emails no matter how legit the notice looks. Call the number on the cards you already have or call the fraud line for your provider not the email number.

Had another phishing email last week for my bank but the wrong method of payment that I never use to do business. Not sure what the surge is from if it happening to others or part of a data breach since it was the wife and I in the same period.

Be careful always tap your card when you pay that info is encrypted swiping the card is not. it’s more vulnerable to theft..

Yep, the bank the wife works at has had several large scale debit card fraud events the last couple weeks. Hundreds of cards at a time.

A couple of days ago I made a $1000 purchase with my debit card. Later in the same day went back and tried to make a $550 purchase with it and it was declined. Couldn't figure it out as I had $6000 in my account. Finally found out that my bank only allows a total of $1500 a day when you use a pin for the purchase. This apparently limits their risk.

I seem to get some every day in my emails. Just delete them without opening them.
Get some text messages as well on my phone.

I think scam season is year round.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)
