Anyone have Formula One dip go rancid smelling? Do you think the smell will dissipate if traps are dipped early? How do you guys like Formula One? Thanks

Never heard of F1 being “rancid”! IMO, the most important thing to understand about using F1 on traps is that it’s a membrane, not a coating.

Thanks for the reply Guys, but it didn't freeze, but it smells like crap. I'm wondering if I should use it or get some more. I'm gunshy on getting more because I'm worried about it going rancide smelling too. I appreciate any input. Thanks

Get Southern Snares' Ambush trap dip. Comes in black, brown, and green. No need to add anything. Ready to use.

Ive had much better results with Ambush than F1.

Yes...very good. Has lasted on the 330s better than expected. It will scratch off eventually, but there is no peeling or buildup like with F1. The beaver footholds at the end of a drowning rod get a lot of tumbling in these sandy bottoms, so the Ambush has taken a beating on them.

The coating seems to be as good as Rustoleum paint dip.

I'm sold on it. Will use it from now on.

Not petroleum based. Very mild odor when wet. No odor when dry. Dries fast. Less than 24 hrs in open air.

Depending on where it came from it could of froze before you bought it. Even if you bought from a dealer from the south where it would not freeze, they could have got it from a dealer from the north. I bought a gallon once and it looked like paint that had froze and thawed. I never tried a second can.

A couple questions please.
Does the wax component make body grips "slippery or touchy" when setting?

Do you use this on canine traps?

Thanks and thanks for all you share.

Mac

Mac,
Im not sure there is a "wax" component. There is no slippery texture. That appears to be just advertisement nomenclature. But, I could be wrong.

Ive never used Ambush on my predator footholds, but I think it would work as well as paint-dipped trap

I saw a YouTube video by Mike Yancey that he was talking about using it. It seems like he hasn't had any issues with it.
