I can get a hold of Wab and he’ll get you a permit to go up and harvest some timber. Wait, why haven’t any of the big companies done this already?……lol Looks like the wind is shifted and might clear things up for a few days. Still smoke warnings today though.

![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/08/full-4649-264931-2025_0731_canada_smoke.jpg) Not a cloud in the blue gray sky here in Sauk County Wisconsin yesterday. Can't even see a mile or two down the road. I just snapped this on our way back from a grocery store run. Finally got some decent cool air with 50s at night for just a few nights here. I love that cool air for sleep. I open the window and breathe the cool air...and get even more Canadian smoke so bad I can taste it. Getting really sick of this! (Thanks for listening. )

I don't remember in over 60 years having Canadian smoke like this except in recent years in Wisconsin. Maybe I'm forgetting some, but it sure didn't seem common until recently. It's making everyone ask questions about how and why.

I took the dog out this morning and I had to also make sure the house wasn't on fire. Sure smelled like it was.

It's making everyone ask questions about how and why. Me neither…..certainly not this often. Some of the big fires are up in areas that have never been harvested. Most areas in western Canada from Manitoba to parts of BC have been dry for years…….ticking time bomb.

We're supposed to have less smoke in our forecast here in a day or two, but only because the heat and humidity is pushing back up from the south. I'll be looking forward to the end of this season and some cold, clean air from the north!

It’s cooling off nicely here at night already, it’s August 2nd. Before we know it, we’ll be busy as eff with hunting/trapping opening up. On the other hand, now the back country travel ban has been lifted and quaders are out. Our Fire Department was already heading south to help out the next municipality with a small wildfire. Thankfully it’s pretty much wrapped up early this morning.

I watch a lot of videos done by Canadian loggers. They cut everything and leave the none valuable stuff lying on the forest floor. Oh sorry in the “bush”. There is so much fuel everywhere, no wonder the place is always burning. BS!…….lol Look up a contract, they’re public knowledge. They are inspected during and after completion. I think some are unaware of the size of Canada and where some of these fires are burning. Some areas have never been logged and never will. Name one big company that could see a potential profit by logging some of these areas.
