Im an idiot and got too close to some stuff by the ac unit with the weedwacker and yanked a red and white wire out of the unit. It connects to the furnace through the basement wall. I opened up the unit and found a brown and a yellow wire hanging from the wiring panel and two wire nuts on the floor of the unit. A buddy who went to hvac school told me to hook up the red to the brown and white to yellow but said it didnt really matter as it was just completing a “cooling call” and its a 24v system. I did as he said and i got nothing. He wont answer the phone now. I verified breakers were back on before I tried turning the thermostat back on. I got nothing, the fan wont even turn on.
Did I fry something in a panel in the furnace?

There is most likely a blown fuse in the low voltage circuit. Most of the newer furnaces have a fuse in the control board. It is common for that to blow when the low voltage (24volt) wire that you caught with the trimmer pulled out. It is probably a 2 amp blade type fuse.

Yep what JD said. Also make sure you didn’t cut the wires with the weed eater. Eric
