So the plan is to work on some of the old trucks I collected in the near future so I’m upgrading my lighting it had 6-8 foot fluorescent double shop lights running down the 50 ft sides the length of the 30X50 building so 12 total. I had 8 new 110 watt High output 8ft fluorescent fixtures from the insurance payment on the shed fire a few years back. So $200 for 15 HO fluorescent bulbs you can’t just go to town and buy these lights most local bulbs are for residential use Cool white I needed Day bright bulbs plus finding 8ft bulbs I needed was not that easy even at twice the price.

So I took down the first 8 old fluorescent fixtures and replaced them with the new HO cold start fluorescent fixtures then bought new contact ends and rewired 10 of the old fixtures to convert them to LED lights. I finished out the one side with 4 rebuilt old fixtures then put 6 rebuilt fixtures down the middle of the ceiling adding a new switch and a 20 amp plug while I was at it that area that needed a plug anyway.

Trying to get 8ft bulbs has been a challenge if you order from a bulb dealer it’s 10 LED or 15 fluorescent minimum bulbs per order but you get exactly what you need. The problem is the bulbs get broken during shipping then you can get a refund for the damaged ones or buy another full case minus the credit for the broken bulbs. So you end up not enough bulbs or more than you need. LOL Tried ordering from a home improvement store online and 3 out of 4 bulbs were damaged so out of 4 different orders 7 bulbs were broken in shipping.

Looks like buying more LED bulbs buy the case of 10 and converting 2 HO fluorescent fixtures to LED might be the way to go that should give me extra bulbs both LED , fluorescent bulbs and ballasts for future repairs. Just can’t find the 110 watt HO bulbs anywhere in day brightness except on line. Extra LED bulbs I can get the next time I go to Sioux Falls it looks like. Eventually they will all convert to LED but I wasn’t tossing out 8 expensive light fixtures as I needed to old fixtures to fill the ceiling anyway. Now I have 29 old style 8ft fluorescent bulbs that won’t with either fixture. frown
