Just lazy I guess. We don't have a spring season so it's a very small amount of gland. Do you dry them? I read somewhere that makes them stronger.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

No I dont dry them. No spring season here either. Its why I buy them. Never saw red rat glands. Not much smell to them either. Its sure enough buyer beware in the trapping game.

I'm with Savell. I've largely moved away from urine over the years and just use straight up glands, which has some urine mixed in, or a gland lure. It's one less thing to carry when I'm hoofing it in.

Rat glands turn red when frozen, not sure why.

Dark with settlement on the bottom of all the gallon jugs. I send a few gallons a year to different notably trappers that would pour it out if it wasn't good. There is a little effort put into collecting quality urine. I have my own guidelines and it works for me. If you are new to the coyote, fox or bobcat trapping world I would be happy to help you out. You can give me a call I will be happy to send you some buddy. Plenty of people on this site help me every year with my wounded warriors trapping event and it is very much appreciated. Good urine does help but nothing works without hard work Plenty of good trapping ground and as often said on here setting on sign.
You can give me a call anytime I will send you a free gallon buddy.

Terry, that is an awesome offer you made him. I know it was intended for him but if you have any extra; I would like to get some from you. You wouldn't even need to send it. I could come get it in person. I know exactly where Moreauville is. My uncle used to live there.

Not sure about coyotes, but for the wolf around here I have to know what kinda pee I got…….sex, age, and time of year it was taken and some other info if known like pack size, stressed area?, was it the last one there? etc. I don’t touch store bought stuff anymore. Male wee, I’d squirt higher on the grass clump that they were marking, female I’d just squirt on the ground. But if they’re marking already, no wee is needed……and the wrong stuff will push them away.
Keep in mind that this is for wolves in my area. Next year, new pack and this might change. Last year there was a high population and the food was running out, so they were making some stupid mistakes and got braver than normal…….that makes it a lot easier…lol

When there's problems, I guess DNR gets a trapper to deal with them/it? I think most of that harvest info is kept pretty quiet along with the hired help.

Yup, I’m under the impression that all canids , felines and raccoon are attracted to the smell of urine,, regardless of what species.
I remember reading an article some time ago that Hal Sullivan wrote.. said he had to urinate at one of his stops.. he said that the next day, there were coyote tracks all around the spot where he urinated. I’m not implying that we go around peeing on all of our flat sets… but it’d be neat to experiment with.. especially seeing how coyote is worth practically nothing.

Good urine is one of the best attractors for all predators. I have dumped out what I deemed bad / sour urine only to find it had many visits for several months after I dumped a few gallons in different locations.

I said I usually buy fresh stuff every year and got ripped for that I don’t buy gallons so it’s just the way I do it. Had some watered down urine once even the dog would not react to it. Most of the extra urine after the season I put into glands and lures so it’s not going to waste that way.

The guy had a bug up his butt because I did not agree with him on an idea he was working on that flopped anyway lots of drama.
