At the request of Stewie!!

Colors on these birds is incredible, and much better in real life. Much like photographing Wood Ducks the pictures never seem to to the birds justice.

If you are a bird hunter who had wanted to hunt pheasants I will say this may be the year to come to South Dakota, it’s starting to look like it might be the best year we have had in a long time.

Beautiful!! It's on our list to pack up the pups and head out there, was thinking next fall, but maybe we'll try to make it out this year.

Very nice, Wilson Jr. I like to see them fly with their tails undulating as a ribbon in the wind. And the metallic colours .

They are in many areas here too.

I like to hear the roos call in early evenings at sunset.

“Ditch Chickens” is what I recall eastern Montanans calling them.

They’ve all but disappeared in southern Michigan. Not sure if it’s predators, habitat loss, nest predation, or all of it, but my grandfather sure is bummed out by their population decline.

Beautiful pictures.
The birds on hay bales would not last 1 minute around here as we have a hawk or eagle on every pole.

Pretty common here on wet dewy morning, they are usually close enough to cover and can bail off the bale and be gone in split second.
When we do pheasant counts we want wet calm mornings and the birds will come out on the roads or get up on bales making them easy to count.

This time of year there are lots of pheasants on the gravel roads in the early morning. I often have to stop for them because they will just stand there and look at you.

Nice you still have them, ours are long gone, feral cats are hard on them...
