The girls are doing good.

On a related note. My youngest daughter recently gave us a young rooster that was a pet of my grandson’s. The township told her she couldn’t have roosters anymore because the neighbors were complaining about the noise. We don’t keep roosters for just that reason.

My wife and I noticed it starting to act aggressively the last few days and this morning it attacked my granddaughter while she was picking tomatoes.

I messaged the family and told them that I gave the granddaughter permission to just go ahead and beat it to death if it happened again and we could add it to the turkey barbecue we’re prepping this morning.

My youngest daughter said you can’t kill the grandson’s pet. I told her she may have to take it back because we’re not putting up with being attacked every time we walk outside. Been there, done that. That is also part of the reason why we don’t keep roosters anymore.

Eh...wot?

Had one pull that but a flip flop up side the head brought us to mutual understanding after walking in circles for a while he never tried it again.

I would immediately kill or get rid of that rooster. Lots of children suffer permanent eye damage from aggressive roosters. Deep puncture wounds from spurs frequently cause sepsis. Our next door neighbor had to have surgery after getting stuck by their rooster. It left a permanent depression in her thigh. It's not worth having an aggressive rooster around with a granddaughter on the farm.

They are a year-and-a-half old Steve. Breeds include Ameraucana, Rhode Island Reds, barred rocks, the usual suspects, nothing exotic.

We gt a batch of new chicks every other year. By the time the new birds are laying good the older birds are slowing down. Then we eat them.

I agree Keith. that bird is not long for this world.

We had an evil rooster years ago. It attacked everything and everybody. It would have been killed right away but my wife really liked it and so killing it became off limits. We could beat on it all we wanted but no head shots.

That bird was unfazed by physical violence. We had sticks placed strategically around the property to ward off attacks. You's whack him so hard he'd sail ten feet and tumble. He'd get up, do this low growl that raised th hairs on the back of your neck and resume his attack.

One evening my youngest daughter came in looking very serious. She told me the rooster attacked her and she accidentally killed it. I told her to show me. We went out and it was laying there dead. I told her to come in for supper and we'd butcher it afterwards.

After supper we went back outside and that evil SOB was standing at the bottom of the deck steps flexing and doing that low growl. It gave me the heeby-geebies. I guess she just knocked it out.

A few months later it attacked my middle daughter's then boyfriend and cut his face. That was it, apparently my wife liked him more than any of us because she put a hit on the bird, gave the okay to execute. My middle daughter did the honors.

Since then we've had a few, we get them as chicks occasionally even though we buy sexed and should only be getting hens. They are killed at the first sign of aggression. So far none have lived long. I'm sure there are docile roosters, we've just never encountered one..

Rooters hit a point they get aggressive I hatched a pair of roosters white rocks that were buds until one day I opened the coop and both were covered in blood and zapped of energy. iIt appeared they had an epic battle that day, both recovered but the bud thing was over.

I have around 70 or 80 roosters here right now. None of them are aggressive at all. I think having kids, that are scared of them, that they can push around, is what makes most roosters aggressive.

I've seen the same thing with most geese.
