This is a strange post to say the least.

I have a Gamo viper express - mini shotgun or .22 pellet. It is very useful with ADC work. I've used it to clean out parking garages of pigeons. Quite effective with the mini shotgun shells. Used it for other jobs too. Good tool to have in the arsenal. A lot of garage clean out work is done covertly late at night. It makes very little noise too. Almost zero ricochet compared to a solid pellet.

So my supply of mini-shotgun shells was getting low and I needed to restock. At any given moment I need to keep 300-500 rounds in case a job pops up. Finding these is slightly troublesome as not every place that sells airgun ammo will have them or have a bunch. Normal pellets , no problem , get them in lots of places. But not the mini-shotshells.

So I went on Gamo's website almost a year ago. Sold out , none in stock. No date as to when you can get some kept checking back here and there , finally about a month ago they had them in stock. Ordered a BUNCH.

FedEx delivered this today.

So now I have enough to last about forever. I fear that the Gamo viper express may be discontinued sometime as it not as popular/mainstream as ordinary pellet rifles. Gamo may still make the ammo for a bit , but if they stop making it , you are done. I don't think anyone other Gamo makes this mini-shotgun shell. Plus my order was delayed a bit , I called Gamo and was told they didn't have enough to fill my large order and were waiting on more to ship my order. They are manafactuered in Spain. Just another reason why having an good supply on hand rather than trying to find a bunch in a pinch.

Do those contain number 9 pellets?

What airguns will they work in?

I've never heard of them, but they sound very useful.

Approximately (20) pieces of #9 lead shot in each round. 17 grains.

It will only work in the Gamo viper express and another similar model that Gamo makes. The plastic shotshell is much larger than .22 cal. They fit right into the breech. In order to use the .22 solid pellet , there is a brass adapter that goes in the breech and narrows it down to .22 cal. The adapter comes with the gun , but I bought a few extras because it could go missing easily.

It is very useful for close in work. With the shotshell you can't miss. Got some good punch too , will go through both sides of a 5 gallon plastic bucket.

Wise move. Like a lot of things......you can assume that since you bought it yesterday, it will be available to buy today.....or tomorrow. Not so....not only did the pellets go away, so did the guys selling them (straight shooters). Everything is temporary these days.

Another reason I did this was Gamo factory had a very competitive price direct to consumer. Free shipping with a large order and no tax. I doubt I'll find them cheaper and the price is very likely to go up in the future. Years ago I was in a jam for some and after checking 2 places that had none , I found a little bunch big enough for my needs for a job I had coming up at a small gun shop 20 miles away. They were a lot more money as the mom&pop place needs to make a profit. Paid a lot for them but bought out what they had. Store owner was probably happy with the sale but maybe not happy with me cleaning him out.

I've had problems in the last couple years trying to find them local. Even dealers have a hard time getting them too.

Can't speak for the PCP rifles, but with springers like mine, the deal is they have a definite preference for pellets. They say the same for powder burning rifles, which I'm still skeptic about, but air rifles do have a preference. Straight Shooters used to sell a sampler of all the pellets they sold. Like 25 pellets for .177 alone. The deal was.....shoot them all and the rifle will tell you what it likes, and that did pan out. You go thru the sampler and 1 inch groups or larger..........until magic moment. One was a one hole wonder. In case of one rifle, it was good old Crosman Premier Lite........7.9 grains. The cheap stuff sold in 1,000 or 1,200 count cardboard box. I could plink 45 caliber ACP brass......and hit 4 out of 5 at 50 yards. Nothing else came close.

Who knew that those were tied to a specific die lot. Change the dies and the air went out of that balloon. The tins of Crosman Premier sold at Walmart have nothing in common but the name. A group from those looking like a shotgun blast.

So what I've got is all I'll ever have. Like my supply of Alliant Unique powder. When it's gone, it's gone. Makes one wonder if it is a consumable product you really like......you need to buy a lifetime supply so you never run out.
