what say you hunting folks. for dove and limb rats

I use a Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon or a Winchester Model 42 both having 28 inch barrels. The 42 is choked mod, the O/U has choke tubes usually with the skeet tubes.

I am with Paul. I too shoot a 686 but currently in 20 ga. I would very much like to have the same gun in 410.

I also have a soft spot for the model 21 Winchester but it is a SXS rather than OU

Always wanted a .410 OU.

Got a citori 410 over and under. To heavy. I also go with 686

Citori for sure but the CZ is a nice cheaper firearm if money is an issue

CZ makes some nice stuff. They used to anyway. Some of their first .22 rifles I saw were aces.

Do they not make side by sides anymore? I always liked the look of them..

Once you've handled a Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon , you can't go back. There are other brand shotguns that shoot wonderfully too. All are O/U. Refined technology is a mighty thing

That said, all of the old time event history clubs, where the appropriate guns need to be used, right down to the clothing of that past history, everyone has side by sides. I'm happy for them, it just isn't my style.

cz puts their name on Turkish made guns company starts with h? They are very nice looking guns. BUT if you are a high volume shooting i read they don't hold up. a club that had rental guns always Had at least one sent back for repair.

But not many people are shooting hig volume especially with a 410 so... not really an issue.

Dave , I understand the budget ....been there too. Howevah.

With as much fun as you will have , lots of use, some things are worth the investment. You could very well wish you had stretched it a bit to get something you will love having for life. I've done that too...get equipment that was what I wanted to spend, but later was not happy with it, and for that cost, I could have invested a bit more in what would have me thrilled using it.

In my opinion, I feel you deserve the best.

There are sites that sell great used shotguns , that you can pick up a very nice one for less than the new cost. Berettas, too.

Those 410 auto turkey guns might fit the budget better and would be a hoot to shoot.

Another vote for the 686. I’ve had a few in all gauges. Still have a 12 and 20. I dare you to wear one out. Not sure it can be done by mere mortals.
