Got some mole issues living at the new house here in local natural forest above Platte river, and the Mrs. was asking what are we going to do about this. She saw the huge grin on my face when I said fire up that Amazon account dear, and she bought me a couple victor spear type traps. Man it feels good to have a little line goin’. First night had one. 50% catch ratio to start the line with these two traps.. FYI, didn’t use gloves either. No scent control here ha ha. Makin Savell proud! Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/08/full-46476-265268-1000001700.jpg) Made this right behind the shoulder catch today in my yard. Scissors trap works great for me. No. 6 for the summer. Usually average 6 or 8 a year. Also been doing some damage trapping for a farmer friend at his sweet corn patch. Eliminated 3 coon and 1 skunk. I will be back this fall as he seems to always have skunks around. For now he just pays me with all the sweet corn we want and a little gas money. It's a good spot for coyotes when their worth skinning. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/08/full-46476-265272-1000001698.jpg)

Hey Walt, You need to adjust the trigger on that mole trap. The shoulder area is the sweet spot on a mole pelt. The grader is going to hit you hard. I believe the mole market is primarily Comanche underwear. If the shoulder area is damaged, extra sewing is required which will cause chafing. The last thing this world needs right now are a chafed Comanches. The title of this thread is Trapping is Trapping. If we are going to do it, let's do it right. | | |

It's a double coilspring scissor trap so I can always try single spring to lessen pelt damage. I see an uptick in the mole market on the horizon.

I've heard that Turok is paying good money for finished moles. He uses them to line his breechcloth.

Yup, I heard he might be running a mole and other specialty fur route in our area. Wonder if GFW will try to get in on the action.

I bet GFW will, but please no carcass moles at the truck.

Will thermals pick up their little bodies through a few inches of soil at their tunnels?
