What are you wanting to use it for? Small game hunting, pest control, plinking, everyday trapline carry What will they be chambered in? .22LR Why not get both!? You could Get them in different calibers and use them for different tasks. I say get both. That would be ideal but I don't want to blow that much dough, especially cuz I'm also going to want to purchase a nice Vortex or Bushnell rimfire scope for it, as well, which would be another 180-200 bucks or so I see the links and they are both .22LR, you can’t go wrong with either. I like the lever action personally, but have used bolt action and it’s nice. Bolt action is awesome if you are going to add a suppressor. Yeah. I doubt I'm going to be getting a suppressor for it any time soon... But it would be pretty cool if I did end up getting one. I say look at a semi-automatic also.
I still say get both. Yeah, go with both and let us know since it will be your firearm. Like I said, right now I don't want to spend that much money but yes that would be the best solution Thanks!

The South was superior at warfare and everyone knows it … these Henry’s are made a by a different Yankee though … he seems to be a decent man

You are a young man. You will be ahead of the game by starting off with a lever gun with iron sights. Once you master the skill set of iron sights for hitting a fly in the eye out of the sky, you will be more than ready to transition to the bolt guns later on after once you have more money to spend. BTW, shooting flies in the eye is just fine. Just don't try to shoot them out of the sky. You'll put someone's eye out. I already have a few .22s with iron sights, and I can't hit a fly in the eye yet, but I was hoping to add a nice scope to this next gun to get maximum results at longer ranges. Thanks for the advice!!

answer a few questions for me are you going to mount an optic ? hunt in the rain or heavy wet snow ? want more rounds easily load able in a second? going to want to run a suppressor or muzzle device to protect your crown? if you answered any of those yes , get the Ruger.

Well with 15 rounds of .22LR (or 21 rounds of .22 short) in the Henry tube magazine, I don't think I will need to reload in a second going to want to run a suppressor or muzzle device to protect your crown? Not at the moment. Maybe later in life I will get a suppressor but by the time I do buy one, I'll probably have other guns to put it on if you answered any of those yes , get the Ruger. Coyote cowboy , I would suggest a minimum of 3 mags and a GI web sling and you go attend an Appleseed with the Ruger , they can teach you to shoot better than you thought was possible and faster using detachable magazines.
yes I have shot rifleman many times , in the hot , in the freezing cold , with a 22 bolt and semi auto and a 5.56 at the 25 meter course the 25-100 yard coarse as well and the 100-400 yard with the 5.56 and I was also a volunteer with Appleseed for a few years.
you will not be sad you learned to shoot better and you will learn to shoot better , I was good going into my first Appleseed and I did shoot rifleman my first weekend. but you get to where it isn't if you shoot rifleman it is an oddity that you don't and it usually involves some sort of equipment issue so then you get better at making sure those don't happen either , because your not excited you shot rifleman your angry at yourself for not performing up to a standard of rifleman.
a Vortex Cross fire II 2-7x32 will do you very well on that gun , you don't need big magnification to shoot well. catch a sale and 130 dollars + tax will get you one.

I'm partial to walnut and blued steel. Henry's used to have swirled plastic look alike plates on both sides of the receiver. I don't know if they went away from that or kept it that way. But it used to be plastic for sure.

Cowboy ... You asked for their opinions.
Wise man once said ... "Don't ask questions that you're not ready to hear the answers to". Lol
Both are good guns, as well is the 10/22, choose what you wish.
My old Marlin 25 bolt has served me well over the many years. That said, in hind sight, I wished I would have acquired a Winchester 9422 when they were affordable.
