I've tested it in a bait formulation. Wasn't anything exciting about it. Will advise melting in the microwave to help it blend better in a formulation is not a good idea. The odor will last awhile in the house.

I have used it now for 5 years in a lure and its doing well for me and the guys I have sent it to. As Yes sir said, melt it first to blend with other ingredients. I melt mine in a double boiler fashion and not in the house! LOL!

Guys, not melting inside of the house is GREAT information....did that in the 80's and my Mom who was usually laid back about hit the ceiling....lol
It's about like skinning a skunk in the basement.

I have used Limburger in several recipes. It does well for me, but it seems to work for best in the cold and when it is fresh. It seems to lose its attractiveness if I don’t use it in the first few weeks after I make it. I don’t preserve it, which may be part of the problem. I just make small batches and use it up quick.

I’d love to know the best way to preserve it so I can make bigger batches.

Here is my current recipe.

2 oz Limburger
2 oz Cultured eggs
2 oz Coyote Brains (sheep, deer, pig all work for me)
add a touch of beaver castor, lovage, and or beaver tail oil, etc.

As you can see, it is not a very sophisticated formula. I make variations to it adding a little of this and a little of that as I go.

PS. I’ve never melted mine. I just use elbow grease. smile

I sent a jar of mine to a lady doin some control work on their own ranch the other day. She called last evening and nailed the female. I have only used it in the fur season so Im tickled that its doin the job in the summer heat.
