Yeah got one for y'all , had some complaints that all I do on here it seems is cook and fish Had to put out some shore lines earlier to tie the barge off in this little bayou, never done it before, all the others that where already out here were all tied and tangled so had to put our own out .Whole time cap just keep making swamp people jokes ... Didn't help here's was a gator following the skiff around, annoying critters and there all over in this area ... Also had my first lil Asian carp experience, nothing like turning around to see three 30 odd pound missiles of scales and slime zooming over you wish the guy we had from Massachusetts was still on would have love to mess with him about snakes in the tress and stuff


But yeah , ... Now time to get this lesson plan started got a new deckhand staring soon and I gotta add some new stuff to the lil due to recent events.

I never understood this^. Maybe panic and sink? Parents didn't so never made sure you did get lessons? Is it a black thing in the south not being able to swim? only other guy I know that can't swim is my black buddy from Mississippi. My other black buddies daughters were on swim team So im wonde if it regional and cultural or just regional or a a fluke.

Edit. So caught myself being a hypocrite sitting hear thinking to myself. If I couldn't swim there is no way I would be working on water or in a boat.1 im a chicken and scared of drowning even tho I'm a ok swimmer. I just thing it would be a bad way to go.
Then I realized I don't have wings and used to build cell towers, smoke stacks, bridges, and steel buildings. Absolutely no difference in dangers. Drowning or falling to a spilt both = dead. I guess splat seems faster and possibly less painful.

Large part of it is I'm just plain negatively boyant....which some people just refuse to believe I had ..... 8-10 different people swear they negatively boyant wasn't a thing....thill they hand me lay on my back while holding me up......then I just sunk and sat on the bottom . My wife cannot understand it to save her life. Remember reading something that a lot of black people have high bone density or something idk.. reason you don't see a lot of black guys in the seals or other SF

Could be interesting science to look into.. But if you paddle your arms and kick your feet fast enough you can keep your head above the water. But with boots and clothes its harder. Would be something I would make a priority to learn at least a little working on the water. You don't need to be good at it just good enough to stay alive. Got a wife waiting on you now and I suspect little ones in the not to distance future.

I ain't black and I sink same as you since I was a little kid.

I can't swim and sink also Wolfdog. And I'm a water trapper. Get asked often, "You mean you can't swim and you water trap, Why?"
I guess not being able to swim makes me extra careful.

Many years ago I served on two destroyers and did two tours to SE Asia, one tour on each of the ships. Probably half of the crew couldn't swim (both ships)......and we covered a lot of water out there.

I can swim, and I'm on a boat all day, but I don't....I know what's under the water, lol

Ive never been able to float. Sink to the bottom if I just relax but I can still swim. I dont think being able to swim has anything to do with being buoyant

This is true I know a man that will sink like a rock maybe from fear but I don’t know
