Sharon, they hurt when rolled onto. I was a squad leader for 5 years training M60 crews. During a drill where the gunner is dead or wounded. The assistant gunner had to roll him away from the gun and resume firing. Yep, right into the pile of links.
I was hand picked my a lieutenant to train soldiers in crew served weapons. Thirty pounds of kick your butt steel and 100 rounds. Lug that beast through jungles and long range patrols made you tough. Even led a 2- 2 team crew during Persian Gulf.
My boys we're good. I was trained by an E-6 Sergeant (Ranger) who would put a boot in your arse during training. I was a private at the time. Sgt. Brandon, if your out there. Appreciate your attention to detail and the discipline.
I brought all my boys back alive.
Sarge
Thank you, Sarge, for your remarkable life shared. No one grown up in soft civilian life, can even have a clue what that level of courage is, when they are in the service , have gone through experiences like theirs and yours...or/and been shot at "in anger'" Only those men who have been where you are , in similar circumstance.
There is nothing in this universe, as real masculine men like this , who don't take no mess from anyone. I am so proud to have been from a line of similar men, and surrounded by them to this day. In areas of civilian life, I am their unwavering overwatch. To insult or slight them, is to TRY to attempt to get around me first. They fail.
Please consider a journal of your experiences , to remember and share with whomever is deserved in your life.
