Arrested a person fresh out of treatment going to meet up with a fellow treatment member to party in a room they put on someone’s tab. Took a pharmacist size bottle of Prozac from her probably stolen by looking at the bottle. Arrested, jailed turned over to her probation officer for that issue. She tried to turn the guy that she drove across the state to be with in for domestic abuse once arrested. LOL That’s some crazy logic.
A year or so later she went down the interstate in Sioux Falls the wrong way and killed a young guy it a revolving door sometimes liberal judges are a big part of the problem not holding folks accountable.

IMO first offense should be 6 months in jail. 2nd should be prison. Some people 20,000 is a drop in the bucket. Jail effects everyone. I worked with a guy who had a bit of a drinking problem. He had already gotten 1-2 DUI's Then on his next offence the judge slapped him with 30 days. He told the bosses at work , they told him to do his time. But if he was just one day more than he was allowed to take , he would lose his job. Luckily he had enough seniority to get 3 weeks of vacation , that and using up his personal time off and some creative scheduling, he had the bear minimum. So he left work one day , reported to jail the next day. 30 days later , released. Following day back to work. He used up every bit of vacation time and other assorted days off , he burned his entire allotment for the year in jail. Good thing too , he would have lost a job of 18 years. And whatever retirement funding he had accumulated.

Good take on it with the liberal judges. You do the crime -you should do the time. The time should be by statute..not some watered down "wah wah wah" I'll be good next time.

WOW No wonder bars have disappeared. I don't go to them but did 40 years ago, and they're all closed now. As far as I have heard, just a whiff of beer , and it's their word against yours. It's their opinion , and it doesn't mater what the alcohol count is. Not worth even having a sip, and driving. Then you read about drunks killing people, so what really maters most?

A good friend of mine got one last Halloween. $2500 for an attorney, $1100 court costs, fines, interlock for car to be installed and monitored has been about $1000 so far with three more months to go.
Insurance he's paying is now $370 a month. Court mandated diversion and weekly pee tests I forgot how much he said. That will continue three more months too. And after all that, in some states they lose their driving privileges and have to start over with written and driving tests. In MN their license plates change to a WH prefix which stands for WHiskey. Don't think police officers aren't aware of that car.

Here if you get a DUI but haven’t been to court yet and get another DUI before going to court they are both DUI firsts because you have not been convicted of the first one yet you cannot be charged with a DUI second.
Local drunk ran over my mailbox up by the road. I live further off the road but the neighbor lives right off the road seen him do it, they were partying on his porch that got his attention. He follows the guy until he stops confronted the guy and took all the cash he had on him.
The funny thing was the guy ended up with 2 DUIs in the later weeks 2 weekends in a row. I had nothing to do with that but I’d bet he thought differently. LOL

Kind of a funny story. To me, at least.
I’d spent the afternoon scraping hides. Had one beer while doing so. Cleaned up, put on my Sunday-go-to-meet-in clothes and did some evening work. On the way home it was dark, sleeting badly and I was watching the fog line on the edge of the road. The sleet was so bad I couldn’t see the centerline very well. Cop pulled me over for weaving and going a little slow on the 4-lane. He asked if I had been drinking. I told him I was tired and was following the edge because the center line wasn’t clear. He took my license to look me up on his computer. Then I offered that I had a conceal-carry permit and a gun in the truck cab. He quickly gave back my license and said, get home soon and get some sleep.
In Minnesota, it takes up to 45-minutes or more to follow up on a C&C permit and highway patrol doesn’t want to take the time.
Never too old to learn
