Flying the family to Boson next week and then driving up the coast to somewhere in Maine for a few days. Any sites, restaurants, or gun stores that I shouldn't miss?

Lots to see on Route 1.

This one of my favorite spots, near Brunswick.

The further you go up the coast the more authentic the experience. Don’t sell yourself short stopping in southern Maine which is more or less northern Massachusetts

Big Brownie, I think Orrs Island is on our list of things to see.

Good to know Windstalker. We'll drive north and work our way back south. Thanks!

Go to Acadia. Good times there. Keep going north. If you make it to Presque Isle. Stop into the police station and ask for my brother. He’ll show you around. Just say Rob from Delaware sent you.

Kittery Trading Post. Good selection of used guns. Back in the day they were fur buyers too.

X2

Also the tax free state run liquor stores in NH right off the interstate are worth a stop.

My wife and I went to Acadia last fall to catch the change of the leaves in the area. Jasper Beach is worth the time if it isn't too far out of your way.

Ol' dad

Lots of lobster fishing, good place to but fresh lobster. You can get good lobster rolls in the area. Go out to the end of Bailey Island. There’s a beautiful view out there. Interestingly, someone got killed by a great white shark there a few years ago while kayaking.

You want to stop at the Maine Prison Store in Thomaston, Maine. Lots of great stuff for sale made by the prisoners. If you keep going north on Rt 1 towards Acadia, stop at the Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde. It was the lighthouse where Forrest Gump stopped when he was running across the US.

LL bean has a huge remodeling project going on right now

Stonington Me. has the states largest lobstering fleet, and is in itself a pretty little town
Bucksport has a suspension bridge crossing a river with an observation deck in one tower

Off the coast a bit is Maine Military Supply in Brewer, it is a surplus store and very modern gun shop rolled into one

BATH iron Works in Bath ME has a shipyard

I do not recognize the biden/harris administration as legal

Eagles Nest Restaurant in Brewer has the best seafood reasonably priced that isn’t a tourist trap.

Baxter State Park is a cooler experience than Acadia. Acadia and Bar Harbor are tourist traps.

Route 1 drive from Portland to Belfast is pretty but also very busy with tourist season.

Take the ferry from Rockland out to Vinylhaven Isle. I had the best lobster one could possibly imagine there.

Bar Harbor yes. Acadia is still really nice.

OP, if going by Baxter I think that one dude building a den who uses too small of a trailer to move wood works there. Bryce or something he goes by here. Hit him up. Although, it might take you a little out of your coastal driving area. lol what with being a 4 hour drive inland. Probably worth it though.

I have a turkey spot or three between Belfast and Bucksport. Terrible hunting, best to avoid the area if hunting.

This is all great information! Taking notes. Thanks! I think this is going to be a fun trip. Got a two and four-year-old girls that I'll have to keep entertained. Is it worth packing a fly rod?

Sure is worth packing the fly rod. Just make sure to read the fishing regulations.

Stop in Gloucester,Mass and along the ocean is a monument in honor all the fishermen that died at sea. Quite humbling. Another mile up the road is the fisherman’s wharf. Very picturesque and a working man’s dock.
