So I noticed the last few times I have been at a dinner i catch myself thinking the coffee is light colored the top off my cup. They must be cheaping out. Bit It happens ant several places ODD I think but everything is cheaper and smaller these days. And I move on

So I was working overtime with an old guy that should be retired but just when he got there the wife decided grass was greener after over 35 years. So he is still working. Great older fellow. He tells me he used to drink a lot of coffee but had not in a few years when I was making som in my small 5 cup pot. I asked if he wanted som he said sure. I told him i make It stronger he said that is how he likes it. Well he drank I and did say I was no kidding I like it strong but I didn't think any more about it tell 2 days later day.

Apparently according to the guy he worked with daily After drinking that coffee he couldn't get to sleep all night and called in the next day. Poor fellow has never asked or taken any coffee from me again.

Just sitting hear and that random thought pattern came to mind must have been subconsciously rolling it around. So maybe its not places going cheap making weak coffee I think looks more like tea but I must make my coffee much stronger.

different prospective I guess.

So how should I look at it mine is strong or everyone else makes theirs weak?

Some folks just don’t know how to drink coffee and should stick with tea.

Midwest church coffee is about the worst.
A good coffee must be made with good quality Arabica beans, not robusta beans. At least one heaping tea spoons of grounds per cup, and not perked or otherwise boiled coffee.
French press, or non-boiled cowboy coffee is the best imo.
Only occassionaly will coffee make it hard for me to sleep, but certain green teas will keep me awake until 3AM.

My Bunn coffee type is hard to find on the road most places have motor oil type stuff. I have a process that makes a few places coffee drinkable. Some stuff just gets pitched I can’t stomach the stuff.

The house blend is often the mildest I add an inch of hot water then a handful of ice from the pop ice dispenser to thin it down a bit. A pack of Stevia sweetener then half and half until it lightens up.

Pay then exit the store I try a sip it either goes in the truck or the trash by the door most places within a few hundred miles I know where to stop at. If all they have is powder creamer or the fake stuff I walk. I take my coffee seriously it’s a pleasure I won’t compromise on.

If I drink coffee after noon, I have trouble getting to sleep in the evening, BUT, I can drink 3-4 cups in the morning and doze off in my recliner with no problem. Can someone explain this?

I can always fall asleep in my recliner quicker than in my bed.

I can fall asleep drinking coffee but I don’t touch it after 5PM or it’s a long night for me.

Cost of coffee is up so places are probably going light on the grounds.

I tried the Phil Robertson method once, just fill the container up all the way. Way to bitter for me

My favorite was when we were in Nebraska deer hunting. We stopped at a truck stop, They had unleaded, leaded, and Road Tar! I have a picture somewhere. It was thick and strong.

Supposedly they make it so thick in south america that you can stand a spoon up in it. Nobody seems to know what that process is . Only way I think i tcan be done is if you grind the grounds to fine powder and you're basically drinking a slurry of water and coffee grounds

FYI Coffee has caffeine. Caffeine is a drug. If you wake up and need coffee you are addicted to a drug. smile

If I drink a large mcdonalds cup of coffee at 6am I can fall alseep just fine at 8pm but I wake up at 1am like I just had the best nap of my life.

Once I drink coffee like that it may take a week for me to sleep right again... After a week or more I start sleeping through the night again.

People think I'm crazy but I happen to think its a key reason why there are so many people that have poor sleep patterns but they think they fall asleep fine and never put 2 and 2 together.

"Oh I don't have that problem" but then go on to say "I wake up at 4am every morning and cant sleep"...

p.s. everyone at the factory that I knew that drank energy drinks (everyday for years) ended up in the hospital with irregular heart beats.

Just some random thoughts I guess.

Coffee is the least of my slept pattern problem. my rotating sceduald od days to night and typical 12 to 16 hr days is what's going to kill me early.

When the wife and I cut carbs I started doing Coffee and a lot of it compared to the past. So pot to pot and a half a day most days since October.

I should probably switch to decaffeinated.

I don't drink coffee, but love sweet tea and drink oh a gallon a day, sleep like a baby, My Dad Uncle and grandparents drink and drank black coffee all day every day, and went to bed and slept fine, guess caffeine has no effect on us. I tried energy drink once horrible stuff didn't help keep me up while driving cross country.

Decaf is literally used coffee . You decaffeinate coffee by soaking the beans/grounds in water
