Angela do you remember when BK made Burger Buddies? Their version of sliders? My brother and I went crazy for them when we were little.

Nope. When I was little, the town we shopped in had only a McD's.

You can eat rare burger from places who grind their own. Or butcher shops that grind their own. You shouldn’t eat rare burger from packing plants that grind and tube everything they can get their hands on.

One I miss is the onion burger at J&J grocery (gas station) in McCalla, AL. It's just their hamburger, but they serve it up with a solid layer of diced onion. We locals gave it the onion burger handle. Used to swing by there for lunch several times a week when I was framing houses. Must've built several hundred right there in in Eastern Valley.

Ruby had a small steak my wife loved. I loved the burgers. Miss that place as well! Even the soup and very small salad bar was nice.

It's not the processing plants, it's the animals themselves. Mad Cow etc.

Back in the 70s, when I was working in a mine in Washington County, Pa., we would go to a bar in Finelyville . They made something called a Fat Burger. They would put a baseball sized ball of the ground beef on the griddle to fry. The greasiest hamburger meat I’ve ever seen. Kept mashing them as the cooked. Sure to clog your arteries, but man were they good. Gave you all you can eat fresh cut steak fries with it.

I guess I'm gonna have to take a road trip if I'm ever going to get to try most of those places. We had a 5 Guys but it closed. All but 1 of the BK's closed, I refuse to eat McDonald's. Not happy with Sonic so I'm left with WhataBurger locally. It's pretty good but I really would like to try something different.

Talking with Christine ... She says Chili's sliders. Of course that's her size as she struggles to eat a single hamburger from any of the fast food chains.

I would rather go to a local family restaurant for a 1/2lb mushroom and swiss burger with fries, if I got the time.

I was raised in the shadow of the original Hardee’s Corporate office (Rocky Mount NC).. Have always preferred their products. Now they cook them to order.

Hardee’s bought Burger Chef and Roy Roger’s Chicken many years ago. A Canadian company bought Hardee’s. Don’t know who owns them now.

I agree with you regarding their mushroom Swiss burger. So juicy and flavorful.

Id prefer any 1/2 pound black n bleu burger from a tavern over any of the fast food joints. Mushroom and swiss is a close second...with onion rings of course

I'd say Culvers as far as fast food burgers go.

I don't understand the hype over Five Guys, or In n Out. Hardees isn't what it used to be. I was about addicted to Hardees Frisco Burgers when I worked at the feed mill when I was young. Seemed to get one about everyday. We got a Mushroom and Swiss burger at the one here awhile back and it wasn't that good. To both of us Kwik Trips Mushroom and Swiss is better than Hardees. Steak n Shake has their place and if we're traveling down south we'll usually stop at one. The special on shakes in the afternoon can't be beat.

That TX burger looks like a good place to try if we get that way again.

We've got a real popular place here in Prairie du Chien called Petes Hamburgers. It's a little tin shack that's open Fri - Sun, from May to mid October. They cook their burgers in water and you can get them with or without cooked onions. I haven't had one in a couple years now but they do a heck of a business.
