What's the deal with Bridgers 155 conibears?
I bought 6 of them. The spring eyes won't fit over the jaw rivets.
I spread the spring eyes for clearance, then they come off the jaws.
I ground off the jaw ends by the rivets, filed them smooth, its a little better but still won't pass the rivets which causes to much tension on the trigger. I'm taking up drinking

The deal is Bridger makes some good traps, but the body grips are not among them.....for reasons you mention and more. Sleepy Creek body grips not much better.......at least not small sample I have. Lots of very subtle stuff needed to get a body grip to work just right.

If they want to make and sell a good body grip, suggest they make exact replicas of BMI. Since BMI went out of business.......they should have no complaint if someone picks up the baton and runs with it.

Meanwhile, if you want a decent 155, look at the Dukes.

Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

The reasone the spring eyes are smaller on the bridgers was their way of making the trap a "magnum" so the jaws closed more fully.Which leads to the to the problem of them being almost impossible to set sometimes. I about just tossed the 330s them in the middle of a beaver pond I was trapping on because they just were giving me fits.

Exactly.

The Bridger 155s have been like since MTP started running them. Pain in the butt. Especially when its freezing, your hands are cold, tryin to get them into a mailbox or on a nail.

Dukes are fine. If I remember right, CTM makes a good one. Longs springs, easy to stabilize and big eyes. Belisle 150 is also a great one that's just a smidge smaller.

Finally got it. I manipulated the springs off # 110 victor square jaw, got just enough room, and trigger tension is good. Apparently Taiwan doesn't have quality control. Total junk. Thanks

Guessing Taiwan is making what MTP/Bridger spec'd out for em. People have been complaining about it for several years now. Seems like MTP woulda changed it if they really cared.

I ordered my last new MB traps back in 2021. 550s that looked like I welded on em. And I am no welder.

I'll get used ones if I need more or go with another company. New MTP stuff doesn't seem to have the bang for the buck it used to. I'll pay more for a better product, but when that isn't what I'm getting, I'm out.
