Had 7 fly over the house today. Had to be below 1,000 feet. Made things shake. What a beautiful bird. I could the see the markings clear. No ordinance. Awesome sight. Just glad they came over when I had finished my coffee for the day. Could've been messy.

Being close to Seymour Johnson AFB, I see them frequently. I've been in a nice quiet beaver swamp and had them come screaming overhead, and I just about messed my britches. That happened more than once.

Love when military aircraft flies over.
A couple years ago, I heard a huge rumble , knew it was something big.
Went outside, and soon saw three Chinooks in formation flying right over the top of my cabin. They were extremely low altitude, just above tree level. I waved my arms in greeting to them. I could just make out one of the guys looking down at me. I know they appreciated my greeting. Don't know why they were all so low. They were headed to the nearby AFB.
Another time I heard the distinctive sound of a Huey . There is nothing on earth like that sound. I went out and waved at the pilots as they flew over . They actually turned around, flew back over me and did a neat dip as they went over.
Flying with my father instilled a love of all aircraft for me, forever.
What a neat experience you had, Sarge. I bet it brings memories, as it does with many vets.

Sharon, everything you mentioned flys over the house. Ch46 and Ch47 and yes my favorite the huey. Did my first solo jumps out of a huey. Did so from 2500 to 10,000 feet. I still yearn to put my knees in the breeze. Also got to do fast rope, repelling, and some door gunner action. Though it seems the M60 and I have quite a bit of history. Never had a huey to fail. But had a Blackhawk to developed hydraulic issues and thank goodness the pilots were good. Only issue, had to drop us into the middle of nowhere and we humped all night to get to our objective. That sucked.

Neat stories, Sarge. Those crew Chiefs were as Greek Gods keeping those choppers and planes flying. Including the smaller Bells that went on scout and perimeter . PF, you can stow anything in those Chinooks. I've dreamed of taking one shopping for ranch stuff and horses and putting them all in there ...along with many groceries. When I was in Alaska with JR on his longline, the jets and choppers flew over all the time. They would swoop down on us as we traversed the big river on snow machine. We would wave and they would turn and head straight for us and give a low buzz . I loved it. The sound of a Huey gets me choked up every time . A unique time in history of the brave , masculine men of Vietnam. One of a kind. So do the old planes of WW2 that my father flew. And still did at air shows as a stunt pilot. Thank you for your shares, Sarge.

Sarge next time you see them like that , look them up on the radar I had maybe 10-15 Blackhawks fly over the house on a course from Ft McCoy WI to approximately Chanute air base Ill they will come up as a single tail number I couldn't get an accurate count as some were already out of sight to the south with more still coming from the north

Years ago the flight pattern of c 130s came directly over the farm. Used to see large groups of them flying low. But no more. Are they discontinued now or dod flight patterns change? growing up the Huey's made it over our house all the time usually 3 flying in formation I was talking to someone later and mentioned that he said , supply flights / currier runs , they needed hours and they would transport stuff from base to base doing that.
