I told my parents the story about the eskimos putting their old and infirmed on ice drifts and pushing them off. ....But was considering an old folks home as being a possibility as well.

For who? sounds like you just want to make things easier for you, while stripping them of the shred of independence they still have, let the flaming begin.

It depends on the person but to be honest just say it, get it out in the open and that way everyone knows where you stand, because their thought maybe that they’re doing something to benefit you by keeping the status quo.
