Anybody think of spraying creek/mudflats with drones to kill the midges that carry EHD? Should be ale to find some new /old stock of DDT somewhere.

Deer and bugs travel too much, too much cover, too many spots for bugs to hide, not going to make a dent.

Deer are most venerable when they drink. When drought condition persist water recedes and midges have more mudflats to spawn in. You don't see them while walking through the woods.

sounds like a terrible idea. Use poison on or around water. To many negative unseen and seen possibilities.

Yes ehd sucks but not worth the risk to the environment.

Agreed. Seems like everyone and their brother thinks poison is the answer to their problems.

We use 10% Permectrin /Permethrin based liquid pesticides in commercial orchard sprayers in WT breeder pens...very safe & effective in enclosures but cost prohibitive in wild landscape applications.

Very important to treat watering holes with "Mosquito Dunks" or other BTI or methoprene treatments.

All the money and attention thrown at CWD bs, when EHD kills thousands more deer annually across a much much wider range.

Serious Federal offense to even possess this stuff, much less use it..

There's some supplements you can feed that are supposedly good for preventing EHD

No supplements can "prevent" EHD...all they can do is attempt to make a deer as healthy as possible in hopes they survive the insect attack.
The biting midge (tiny fly) Culicoides Variipennis is primary vector of EHD/BT. Therefore vector control is the most important but most neglected form of this disease control.

Due to variation in virulence (strength of virus carried by the midge) and some acquired resistance of individual deer, there are three forms of EHD/BT that exhibit different rates of progression upon the animal. In most rapid forms, I have seen many fat & sassy bucks (on the best deer chow made with supplemental micronutrients) running and jumping in the morning but dead as a chunk by sundown...from one bite of a tiny fly.
