lol.

Glad we can agree to disagree about agreeing to agree.

Yes, you’re a fellow hunter and I applaud however you choose to hunt as long as you are safe, legal and ethical.

Good luck this season.

Ive had practice. One of my longtime best friends went to the dark side years ago, and he ribs me as much as much as I rib him. I had to learn how to not be a sore loser…

Honestly they aren’t for me. I do use them for mentored hunts with new hunters and I have killed a doe with one. But I prefer my compound currently. Although, I do have my eye on a recurve that a local (bowyer) bow maker builds. They are nice and I’m considering it, as it seems super fun and an added challenge of instinctive shooting.

But, I’ll never ever tell another they can’t use what is legal and ethical.

It’s their choice. I’m no hater.

I have an ample amount of both. But I can still recognize heresy when I see it.

I am forced to use one because I can not see the pins through the peep. I hate it but if I want to hunt, that is the deal. They are heavy, they do not give you the option of trying to sneak in a second shot like you sometimes can with a compound. I find it to be a real pain in the neck.

That sucks Mark. But, I’m glad you are able to still be out there hunting during ARCHERY season.

And before you go on a rant about fancy compounds vs stick bows save your time. Are compounds easier than stick bows? Absolutely. But they have a few things in common that crossbows don't have that is essential for a true archery experience. First, you have the draw the bow without getting busted. Second, you must hold the string back. Third, you must deal with pin movement while you execute the shot. Fourth, you must practice consistently. Don't tell yourself that looking through a scope over a solid shooting rail is archery. My kids started with a crossbow when they were too young to draw a bow but by the time they were 12 they were shooting compound and have killed several nice buck with them. If you want to shoot a crossbow I have no problem with it if it's done in muzzleloader or gun season. Just don't call yourself an archery hunter! Ok... rant over lol

… I like to ease up on bedded deer and slip a lit firecracker up their butt …. It’s a very challenging way to hunt

Dangit, Savell, I already had to edit my "method of take" post once to add in baseball bats, now I gotta go back and add firecrackers too?

I used to sneak upon them and put salt on their tails, but never thought of firecracker up their but. A wealth of information on here, lol !

If regulations didn’t favor archery seasons then there would be way less Robin Hood’s in the woods. Just shows that both bows and crossbows are lame. Get to a state that allows you to hunt with a lever action, period.

ATTENTION Savell !
My wife just informed me that firecrackers are illegal in Illinois under the Pyrotechnic Use Act. Well back to the think tank.
