You only need to go up 10’ or so. Unless the shooting lane or angle to the trail is better higher up.
Just my opinion and experience.

And wear a harness unlike what Savell is doing. .

But practice up that high. Your shots with a bow will be different WD. Gotta calculate the range and hight off the ground.

Just make sure you maintain all the lines. They will fray rubbing on the tree. I’m sure you’re aware of that though.

Hope you smoke a big old doe or something.

20 ft us rule of thumb. If you can get into cover lower than that, so much the better. If you're in a tree that's practically a telephone pole with. I limbs, you might need to go 30-40...

Interesting only ever ground hunted so .... Like I've seen someone people like 40-50' up and I'm just like crazy why
Actually talked to one guy who hunts the national forest, said he likes being 50' ... Asked why and said with a 700 GR arrow he's shooting straight down and just though everything..... Idk about all that but hayyy

I don't think I've ever deer hunted from higher than 12' and I've killed a county limit almost every year doing so.

My most successful tree stand, when I used a tree stand was about 10', probably closer to 8, it was in a bushy white pine though...
Usually just hunted on the ground, killed them fine and didn't have to climb a tree..lol

Some areas the deer are trained to look up. If you don't have any cover from limbs, you can get picked off if you don't get higher. Gotta watch when hunting near the tops of hills too. If you climb above the top of the hill Bd no cover, you skyline yourself to anything below the hill.
Climbing too high ud not good for close in shots as you have no margin for erro.

I had the thirty inch helium sticks and cut them down to twenty four inches. When I climb I only used three of them with an aider on the bottom step.

I bought the Skeletors from Tethrd for this year, and will run three of them the same way as the others.
