Nothing wrong with making a living.thats not what meant. I should have worded it differently. I was saying he's saying 60 is a rip off.( he aid everyone else was) I was just telling g hi. He'd get a better deal by the bushel so he'd realize in theory he was paying way more than he everyone one else.that he was saying was getting ripped off.

I buy and resell so im.not against anyone getting wha they want out of stuff

If the market auppoets.it..have at it.

Here peaches were 37.50 for a half bushel.and they were selling. (Not mi e another market)

I offer mine cheaper because that way people with less money can also afford them.

IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !

Used to get reasonable prices at the farm stands here, but we have so many city people moved out, that thought the existing prices were dirt cheap, the farmers corrected and now sell right about city prices.. I don't blame them, but it priced the locals out on a lot of stuff...we don't have auction places here so you either grow it yourself or pay up...

That makes sense gcs. I do realize that most of my prices are higher than what fixed income folks can afford. There are some programs that our farmers market utilizes that help these folks out. Most senior citizens of limited resources get $40 of farm direct coupons to help out. No auctions out here either....first I heard of it was from Keith.

None of my comments were directed at you Cathryn.

If people would stop buying them at that price, the price would come down. Unfortunately too many people feel they just have to have them and will spend anything to get what they want. Self gratification.

Just read an article on the cherry growers, best harvest ever, and they're expecting to lose money cause people are not paying the high supermarket prices, so demand crashed, cherry prices to the growers crashed, Supermarkets claimed not enough time to reduce prices so harvest left to rot in a lot of places. The growers also commented on how hard it was to get pickers, but obviously enough to flood the market...

So grow a ton and lose money...good business model, lol

I know where I can buy apples by the truck load for 20 bucks during deer season. They all have been processed to go to the store and have a sticker on them. Unfortunately they go unsold because the store charges too much money for them. I’ve seen honey crisp apples for $5 each at the store. And they wonder why they rot on the shelf.

I SAID I PAID $1 to $2 a pound for peaches. The first was $2 a pound early in the season before any became available here and I only bought them once. In the store a couple weeks ago 95 cents a pound. This week $1.05 a pound. These are fresh picked peaches. As stated by Beaverpeeler and what I said earlier. People who shop farmers markets here pay with EBT which is a free government program. How I am getting ripped off is because the government gives away my tax money for free food for others who pay outrageous prices at farmers markets.

Slick, I'm quite willing to tell you how much my EBT sales are per week. It's about 1/3rd of my overall sales. Most of my sales are to folks who are willing to pay a premium for premium produce. What you can buy for a buck a pound at supermarkets does not compare even remotely to the "eat over the sink" peaches I sell.

All of that said, you do make a point that is valid: tax money is supporting that 1/3 of my sales that EBT accounts for. And I almost always sell out.
