Our sheriffs department has issued a statement saying that farmers need to keep an eye out on their livestock..been lots of livestock stolen around here.
Feeders and dairy cattle have been stolen.
Are you guys seeing this stuff in your neighborhood??

In the past. Their m.o. was to let the herd out as if they escaped while they loaded what they could on the trailer. Only later on was any noticed missing. Brilliant really

High as cattle is it will get worse

Haven't heard of anyone around us but it wouldn't surprise me as high as beef is.

I'm surprised it isn't more common, don't even need a trailer, just chunk em up and toss in back of a pickup

I imagine small butcher shops could make small numbers of rustled beef continuously disappear.

Had a new born calf get snatched out of a neighbors pasture. Momma cow kept going to one spot where it was presumed the rustlers crossed the fence. Neighbor found a wallet laying there. Turned over to the police. Not sure what all came of it, but they got the calf back.

It's truly amazing how many lowlife thief's lose their wallets at the crime scene! LOL laugh

It happens here every so often. Usually in waves. Someone will start doing it, make a handful of thefts, get caught ,then it will settle down for awhile until someone else gets desperate enough. None here lately.

It’s been a while, but I remember one time a couple of drunk guys tried to steal one they got it in the back seat of the car and after the calf broke out the windows and the cow ran into the side they let the calf out and the farmer didn’t press charges as he thought they had enough to pay for he’d save the court system the paperwork.

We're going to start branding as a precaution.

$1,800 for cattle here that adds up quick if you can load and go, it happens here we have brand inspectors here that deal with that. East River no brands required West River is brand country.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Sold a horse to SD a few years ago and the guy was talking about East River/West River , I couldn't figure out were the dividing line was. For a non native where's the line?

Felony with hefty penalties here....which is probably better than what'll happen if the farmers catch em....
