I think they should drop the fine and just apply the jail time for this guy. Fine means eff all to someone with money, or someone with nothing to their name. Time in the clink is more effective.

The guy is a canadian combat veteran who did nothing wrong other than civil disobediance. He called ahead, told the forest guys what he planned to do. Met them at their office and walked in the woods for a few minutes. Even joked with them when they did their job.

Wait so if I call ahead and say I'm breaking the law its then okay?? Nothing wrong other than civil disobedience........, trump would have sent in the National Guard by now in that case.

For those that have not seen a large forest fire, imagine (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) on earth, making its own weather patterns and bent on destroying everything it touches. The entire area is a tender box, not enough moisture to keep the fires down on the forest floor. When you see a 20 foot pine tree go up like a roman candle, then start jumping tree top to tree top, your okay with telling people to stay out of the woods.

I love it when people reveal who they are by radicalizing a point. Lol

Was it okay for Canada to take in the draft-dodgers from the USA?

It’s a lot better around here now. Finally getting some rain. Go out at night and you get soaked with dew. Out east is not looking good.

I guess if they called ahead, using this argument.

What do you think the reaction would be if this happened in the US? I have family fighting fires out there and I guarantee they wouldn't agree with these kinds of restrictions on freedom. Keeping people away from an active fire, ok. But fined for hiking in general? No way.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

They gate state land roads here unless its hunting season, and then some still stay gated.
Sure, you can hoof it in, but in reality, they're still restricting you.

Same difference imo.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Do they fine you? Make access less convenient is not the same as punishment. for doing so.

The guy who called ahead was arrested. But Canada wasn't too worried about the draft-dodgers breaking the law and instead harbored them. Selective outrage for lawbreakers.

Debanking the truckers convoy and charging the protestors tells you all that you need to know.

I get upset about that, too. Especially when it's national forest land.

Somebody needs to protect the public and enforce the law. If not Mayors or Governors, then it falls to the Feds. And yes, the Military can be used to protect the public under the Insurrection Act, this is an exception to the Posse Comitatus Act, which generally prohibits Federal troops from domestic law enforcement. This was written and can be used to protect individual citizens from being deprived of Constitutional Rights when "state authorities are unwilling or unable to act". Like maybe allowing looters to steal less than $1000 from you and not even allowing the police to stop them. OR, allowing three time convicted illegal alien Pedophiles back out on the street with cashless bail the same day they are arrested?

Why? Are you an illegal criminally trespassing, gang banger or car jacker, freeloading feral bum camped out in a shanty town on public property?

Drought conditions and high fire risk. What we would just have a burn ban where outdoor fires prohibited.

Instead those provinces prohibit entering crown lands (public lands) for any reason, this includes all public parks. My understanding is crown lands make up the vast majority of land in those provinces.

The individual ticketed did intentionally enter as a civil protest.

Hey Warrior,

I live in Nova scotia, where the 25K ban was started.

No crown (public land) land use, you can go on your own private land, but not your neighbors to say, help do anything or visit etc.

Most land in NS is private, there is a good chunk of crown land for recreational purposes, but widely private.

New brunswick followed the ban but they had a heavy rain and lifted the ban.

There's a police line where you can call and report people for walking a trail... it's a bit wild. Our department of natural resources can run Quads through trails all day (of course with a spark arrestor and fire extinguisher on the bike like you're supposed to have) but public can't walk the trails in shorts and sneakers and nothing else. it's wild.

We can't scout or bait for deer or bear (early season starts in 2-3 weeks) on public land where most folks hunt, can't go fishing in lakes or ponds etc if you have to walk a trail to get there, can't hike, can't camp, nothing.

We do have one or two big fires right now in the province out of control, I just wish common sense prevailed and not a heavy government hand.

Also, for us conspiracy theorists out there, there are proposed uranium mines as well as subdivision developments just so happen to be in the same areas as the wildfires.
