Those are kick butt. I cannot pass through/visit that area without stopping there. Great idea in your state grabbing my out-of-state money passing through. More places need to do that. A win-win in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure bourbon does not improve with age once its taken out of the barrel it was aged originally in.

Any ways, it ain't worth much other than a substitute for rubbing alcohol as far as I'm concerned.
That stuff is awful, tastes like gas. grin

I drank most of one of them bottles back when that one was made, or there abouts, not my wisest choice.

Nessy ,
Years ago I bought out a liquor collection from a friend who was retiring south. He was not much of a drinker and had a big collection from a lifetime that he kept mostly to offer drinks to guests. I got over 150 bottles , some unopened , some open.

In the collection was a bottle of Southern Comfort with a tax stamp from 1964. The bottle was already opened , so collector value was of no concern. I would take a shot here and there until it was empty , lasted me a bit. Very smooth , very little bite , it had mellowed over the years.

One cool thing about it was it was 4/5 of a quart. Also called a 'fifth' back in the day. Kinda neat , not your 750ml bottle you see now.

That’s what I was going to ask. Is it labeled the good old U.S.A system, 4/5 quart, or the communist 750 ml?

I will agree with that statement. The 1964 bottle of Southern Comfort I had was a bit less flavorful than a current bottle. It was much more mellow however.

Nessy , looking at your picture carefully , it looks like some is missing , just a tiny bit. Even in a tightly sealed , unopened bottle over time you will lose a very small amount. In the trade , they call that the ' Angel's share ' A very , very small loss of the pure alcohol.
If you decide to keep it and consume it as opposed to getting some collector to pay you a bit to buy it , you may find it very slightly degraded but a different drink. You can get a chance to try something few have , an aged liquor with a taste that is not as harsh but calmed down a bit.
