I totally agree that compounds are nothing special and not hard to pick up and become competent with. We've already saw a massive uptick in deer being taken with xbows and liscenses sold. This will result in more 1 deer areas, more buck only areas and more leases.
At this point I support a longer rifle season and doing away with a special archery season, atleast then the woods open to small game and trapping when it's done. Do they close trapping and small game hunting when your archery and firearms season is open? That sounds dumb if they do.

Two things can be true at the same time and also can coexist. For example... I'll always consider able bodied people who are fully capable of drawing a bow to be lazy. Slant it anyway you want , but the fact is, you just don't want to spend the time being proficient and got frustrated getting busted drawing your bow. However ... I've actually fought against my own bow hunting organizations who were against x-bows. I saw the writing on the wall and saw where Oklahoma's Dept. of Wildlife Conservation interests were. More deer need to be harvested and more tags sold. Nor was I one of those that called my elected officials to air my grievances against them . Being busted is probably the least of anyones reasons for going with the crossbow. Though for guys that hunt out of box blinds its a bit harder to shoot a regular bow out of a box blind.

No, the majority of landowners just won't allow anyone to hunt or trap until deer season is over. Deer season is roughly Sept 15th to Dec 31st now.

Then is a person like me who is proficient with a compound bow lazy when I hunt with a rifle?

Then is a person like me who is proficient with a compound bow lazy when I hunt with a rifle? You're using a rifle during the appointed season. That's not the same comparison.
